Health Insurance Post Cancer?

OK guys, I am coming to that age... The whopping 26... Getting old I swear, everything hurts. Don't know how some of you are holding up in your 40s! No one ever told me getting old is so rough!

Alright under "Obama Care" (leave your political ideals out of this please... I was able to hop back on my parent's family health insurance for the past 12 months. As I am turning 26 I am getting kicked off.

As some of you know earlier this year I found out I had an extremely large liver tumor. It turned out to be cancerous. Since then I have had it removed. Just surgery was needed.

So I will be applying for health coverage with the following on my medical records...
*Had Cancer + Surgery
*steroid abuse is on there (Cause of the tumor), +now on prescribed HRT (used to compete in bodybuilding competitions)
*Minor Asthmatic
*Weight, as they don't go by body fat but BMI...

Where do I start? I have had quotes of everything from 30,000-720,000 per year.

I am finishing up my Master's degree by December 2013. I will be using University Health Insurance from August - December it looks like. I am contemplating getting my PHD (already something I want to do) just so I can continue to keep the health insurance or is there an affordable alternative?

Budget is fairly flexible, just spending $30,000 a year seems absurd to me.

I hope you're doing better Chris and that you are also cancer-free now.

I think I'd stay a permanent student, or marry a girl with a health insurance plan and have her add you as family.

Politics aside, you can still blame the government.
