Paradigm shift

I'm seriously considering selling my car in favor of a sweet fishing machine that would change the way I spend my free time. If anyone is looking for a great 348 Serie Speciale with 0 outstanding issue's in Nero on Nero please direct them here. Still not convinced I want to do this. Parting will be an emotional event.

Anyone that wants a boat rather than a Ferrari deserves it!

There is undoubtedly a pill or 12-step program for anyone that prefers the former over the latter.

A boat

is a hole in the water in which you pour money.

GLuck with the sale, but if I were a buyer I sense a tearful and painful goodbye.

Can you lease a boat for a few months before you decide to buy?

Hate to see you let the 348 go and then decide you prefer the Ferrari to the boat.

A skipper who provides boat, beer and ice no less. Wetpet is right, I'm not as savvy, Ed's brighter than most people give him credit for being.

Lane, why not BOTH toys?

Life is too short to not drive a Ferrari AND own a boat to spend your free time drowning bait.

Or, as Wepet says, find someone who owns a boat, likes to drown bait and needs crew. Maybe entice them by loaning your car out one weekend a month? It'll be much cheaper in the long run.

I am an experienced mariner and have a long history with boats from my childhood right up till I joined the Navy. I had accomplished more things on the ocean by the age of 14 than most people accomplish in a lifetime including a full Captain's license (now expired). I got married while serving in the Navy and have spent my life supporting and nurturing the family and children. I'm very aware of what I'm getting myself into. This new direction I am choosing was to some degree caused by 2 friends with boats.

If I could swing it, both would be my stable however...

Have fun with your boat Lane. It seems likely that you will raise another generation of sea lovers. It's interesting our good natured advice reflects what is important to ourselves. The sea in your part of the world looks full of possible adventures.

Lane - was I the cause of this???

Oh boy.

But I agree that there is more to life than Ferraris. Plenty of working going into my boat at the moment and I'm very keen to get sailing my first long distance in a couple of weeks.

Have fun with your fishing boat! There's nothing like being out there on the water.

Ed, Think you are being a bit hard on yourself.

Conversation does remind me of this quote though:
