+1, David! It was a street parades & carnivals... not a race!

Bollocks, as from our suite on Casino Square it was bloody fantastic, I cannot describe the noise or the way the engine sound penetrates ones body, so if you havent visited this race from Casino Square do it, youll have a ball, as all 9 of us had a truly amazing once in a lifetime experience & we all loved it. Habsy, Cribbj, Brettgagnon, Markjayw, myself, along with most our wives!

Was a dissapointingly very poor result for Ferrari & Massa was his usual 'rubbish' having crashed out at the exact same spot as in practice, not much overtaking, but that's Monaco & barring team cock-ups & accidents the race positions were kinda a foregone conclusion!

Some decent results, di'Resta & Sutil came good, Hamilton did well, surprised Alonso slipped back as much as he did from the top 4 & like him or hate him, Vettel nailed the racing lines around Casino Square, as did Webber & Hamilton.

Ill post some pics next...

Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery, today's a gift.....enjoy every minute!

Oh, oh, Monaco. I've been there once in the Summer and it was beautiful. Add in the thrill, speed, crowd, screaming engines, the smell of rubber in your nostrils and I can understand why Peter wouldn't want to be anywhere else..Paradise...But for us suckers watching it at midnight, PLEASE give us some proper passing zones to increase our excitement levels AND keep us awake! Given the power of these F1's, it seems way too easy for leading drivers to defensively cover their lines (although I wouldn't like to try it).

Peter, there was a McLaren/Scotland flag shown on Sky sports, could it possibly be you and the others?

+1 to Peter's remarks, yea the course is what it is, so nailing the qualifying round is one of the keys (if not THE key) to placing well during the race, barring cockups and other assorted issues (of which there were many). But wow..........what an experience!!!! I too have a few photos I'll upload later, but Brett was snapping continuously, so I expect/hope he'll have some of the best shots and will share.

We'll be on our way to Nice shortly, and back to the US tomorrow.

Kudos and "mille remerciements et felicitations" to Peter for the invitations and arrangements

Nice pics, Peter! Looks like the sun shines all over Europe that day.
I agree that the atmosphere in Monaco is something that you have to experience (I have done that from a dealer's yacht a few years ago), but I still think the excitements of the F1 race diminished very quickly once the line up of the parade is settled after 2nd or 3rd laps.
The only unseen-on-tv overtaking was done by Kimi to get him to 10th from 13th in the last few turns... other than that it was more great atmosphere for the fans and before you know the parade is over.

Ah but that is an entirely different point to whether it was a good race or not. I have been to the Monaco GP a few times and as an opportunity to see F1 cars in action up close it is unparalleled. That is not the same as saying the racing is good. There have been good races at Monaco but this year's was emphatically not one of them.

We all have our own opinions Jonathan & Monaco is what it is, a narrow street circuit, which is why qualifying & strategy plays key to grid positions & final pole positioning!

The 30 minute stop was farcical, as it should never have taken that long to rectify the crash, however it was still very enjoyable, albeit perhaps not from a TV standpoint.

Btw, di'Resta & Sutil played a blinder & Kimi as well as a few others mentioned above showed consistency of lines through Casino Square!

Probably just a severe case of envy on my part. Pics and vids, however, were great. Also travelling to Europe next month but my bad planning misses the German F1 by five days. Duh! Roll on Melbourne!

No Will, we were all in a VIP Hospitality Suite in the Hotel de Paris on Casino Square & if anyone had shown a McLaren flag they'd have been thrown over the terrace into the square, ha ha!

David, that's why qualifying & strategy are so important at Monaco, its a great street circuit race & a brilliant addition to the years GP events....

Liking your 16M, I miss mine lots, but hope to add one back to my stable when my knee repairs itself....
