These older Ninjas, and in my case, 86 1000 R, are just insane machines for their era. I just got off of mine, after coming home on the freeway with my friend on his 2013 Concourse. I absolutely wrung its neck out, and in return, I was grinning ear to ear. These bikes will take what you give them, right up through the rev range up to the redline., and just scream with a vengeance !!! For an 86, this bike is really friggin fast...I was doing clutch up wheelies at every stoplight on PCH on the way home to my house, after exiting the freeway . There is a slight fuel starvation with the stock exhaust from 3500 to about 4200 RPM s, thats not to bad, its non existent when accelerating hard. The build quality of these Kawasakis have been excellent throughout the ZX s lineage. I have always preferred inline four cylinders, they produce the most power per liter, in my opinion. I had a chance on Friday to check out a V4 Aprillia Tuano. Nice bike. If and when I saddle up on V motor configuration, my choice is simple, V4 rather than V 2 . Ducatis are cool., much to expensive for what they are. Any Jap inline four sportbike will be no problem going up against the Ducs.(and winning) for half the price, and the Aprilias are a lot less money as well.
