Driving Shoes

I've been buying Tod's shoes at a local outlet store for a few years now. Always very well priced at between 25-40% of high street RRPs and a good range. Went out today to buy a new pair only to find out that the shop had closed - another victim of the Irish recession.

So, it got me wondering... What do you all wear when you drive. I must admit that I don't possess a specific pair of 'driving shoes' but one of my pairs of Tod's casual runners/sneakers did more often than not end up on my feet when I was taking one of the F cars out - and it was a new pair of these I was after today.

So who wears what? And where do you buy them?

And if anyone has a good link for an online Tod's store, please share...

I am like you Barry, don't wear a specific shoe, but I like my running PUMA shoes when i drive a 3-pedal car. I feel gives me more control , and super light so not heavy on my feet

Barry- I have five pairs of driving shoes that I rotate and that is all I wear. Four are Ernest Hemingways from a company that also went under in the recession and I forget the name of the other pair. With our weather here, they are fine for year around use.

I don't have special driving shoes designed as such and tend to wear whatever I have on at the time, or need to wear when I get to the other end, but if I am going on a long drive I have a pair of Dunhill loafers that I find very comfortable for driving, so tend to wear those - they have soft leather uppers and rubber soles.

Best wishes, John

I do not want any lace-up shoes that take all day to put on. Mine are all loafers or single tie shoes that do not need tying.

Umbro which fit like a tight glove, amazing feel and control. Bad news if I'm on my feet for hours at destinatiin but pair of flip flops are always under our seats. Speaking for the 360 only.

Barry:

I get a 30-40% email from the Ferrari store plus the discount for ownership:
with these combined discounts, the prices are surprisingly reasonable

I'm with you- I have drivers and others. I have a set of Born's that I bought four pairs of because they were discontinued. For me, they are pretty good all around- not drivers but excellent overall at a fraction of the Tods.

Nothing particular per say. Whatever I decide to put on that day would suffice for me, although I may have to improvise somewhat in cases with crocodile boots !

I do own few Tod's so called driving shoes, but for me I do not find them particularly comfortable to use. Driving with their patented dimple soles not for me.

I agree with Terry on lace ups. Living in a culture where you take shoes off, it is not exactly practical.

Piloto makes both real race shoes and comfortable driving shoes. Some of the street styles have elastic laces, so they become slip-ons (no need to tie a bow).
