The E60 M5 on the road.

I have to say i am extremely interested in getting me one of these....the only problem is the high displacement. That's a real turn off for me. (the road tax'll kill me) Anyways here's a couple of pics for you guys to enjoy.

Anyone else thinking of buying the E60 M5?

Maybe it's just me - but I can't help think BMW are trying a little bit too hard these days.

The old M5 looks really purposeful without looking too "styled" - to me, this looks a little like they're really trying to make it look mean.

I can sort of understand what Bazil is getting at. What is with the chrome above the lights? Just doesn't seem to fit in these photos. I like the front end shot and the lights, but I'm not too crazy about those wheels.

I was going to say that that 'chrome" looked like the turn indicaors, but upon further investigation, it appers that hypothesis was wrong. I am now curious to know what that is now and if it serves any purpose above aesthetics.

what chrome? I think i'm just blinded by love.

They do look like indicators. Led perhaps? maybe a new form of LED lights?

I decided I'd come and have another look at this and see if I still thought the same.

I do.

I guess what I'm getting at is that you can't make a 4 door executive saloon look like a supercar. If you try you'll fail.

I think it looks like an old M5 that's been modified with an aftermarket bodykit out of the classifieds in "Max Power" - i.e. badly!! If you're a regular you'll know that I'm not a fan of people nailing bits to cars...
