Video: Helicopter crashes on Top Gear Korea

This video is crazy! Gotta check it out

While filming on Top Gear Korea, a helicopter is chasing a Corvette ZR1, and at the end, the helicopter crashes!

Glad no one was seriously hurt per report. The driver of the ZR1's reaction says it all...

Mike- I do not care if you are in a helicopter, there is no lift in a 90 degree bank. Pilot figured that out in a hurry. Power required to maintain level flight in a 90 degree bank is infinite.

Every day I look around, and if nobody is shooting at me, it is a pretty good day.

I am no pilot, but even I knew that! Helloooooooo!!!!

That's like expecting a normal braking zone on ice. Stoopid.

What shocks me is that this doesn't happen more often on Top Gear over the years. I love the British version but some of the stunts they do are crazy

The manoeuver he was performing is called a "rotor over." One of the most challenging moves we can do in a helo. It looks like he didn't gain enough altitude during the pullup, probably because he wanted a dramatic tail snap for the camera crew just below him. As he came through the midpoint of the turn, as Taz says, his lift requirement was very high. Predictably, you can see he pulled power, which also pulled his tail parallel the ground, thereby flattening the turn. As a result, he started to sink FAST. Once at the the 3/4 mark of the manoeuver, his only salvation was to level the wings, keep the nose down, and gain airspeed. Instead, he kept the turn in, and that finished him off.

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.
