Almost bought one - suggest opening the doors and getting in and out.

Those doors were too much for me to deal with otherwise love the car.

A butterfly door kit is around 13k - worth every penny if you are going to enjoy the car.

haven't owned them but i have driven them(pic below). would love to own one. this is an extremely fun car to drive. good luck getting out of second often though. it goes from around 20mph-90mph. highly recommended and i would assume very collectible. This is a very raw, powerful car with no driver's aids(i believe). Very cocooned feeling in the cockpit with high trans tunnel, low ceiling and form fitting seats. Shifter is right where it is supposed to be. wide, low and torquey. sounds great, feels tight and planted. I would def recommend a test drive. oh, and the looks. one of the best in the last decade. show stopper. Look at the boost needle and guess where the accelerator was. Not for the faint of heart or people used to driver's aids.

Great replies guys! Keep em coming. I wanted one 3 cars ago. Considering one now. Can't believe the value had never went below original MSRP. Only appreciating more and more each year. Crazy!

I took a serious look at them a couple of years ago. Just didn't bond with it. Thought it was missing something to make it a bit more special. Ended up with a Mosler eventually instead.

Who ever is selling you that kit for $13.000 is ripping you off......You can get that kit between $500 and $1500.

I have seen kits for $2000 and 2500 but those were for Heavy Duty applications (truck doors, P/U, Hummer)

From what I've seen, only one company makes them. And they're solid billet aluminium and require quite a bit of work to modify. This isn't a kit that you see on Honda Civics, and cars alike. Nobody makes a kit for 2k for this car, and if they do, I'd be very cautious of what you're gonna get.

One of my clients has one. He is a good judge of cars and he loves it.

I have been offered to drive it but as yet have not.

These are the GT mod kings.

Elite Autos LLC - We are CASH BUYERS for your used Exotic or High end car. Sell us your car for CASH today!

For 150k these cars are nice - plus any issues you take it to a Ford dealer.

Again the doors make it very hard for regular use and for 13k it's the way to go.

What is the deal with these doors exactly? Those butterfly doors are very cool though.

Almost impossible to find a parking space that allows you to open the Door wide enough to get out and when you do watch your head.

Suggest tuck n roll.

I wrote to Ford when they were announcing development of the Ford GT and told them if they could keep the price below $100K, I would buy one. They wrote back and said "Thank you for your interest in National Defense."

haha.

In 2008 they were around 120k and a few salvage title ones were just over 100k with minimal damage.

Any regrets not picking one up?

Are you sure about that? I've watched them for quite some time, and have never seen them below what originally retailed for.

This recent article seems to confirm this...Ford GT: America's investment-grade car - Jul. 2, 2012

100% positive.

As I posted earlier - almost bought one.

Keep in mind in 2008 Wall Street was a mess and there weren't many buyers.

Read the article - which refers to years 05 and 06 not 08 etc.

*****In fact, the Ford GT -- a 550-horsepower mid-engine sports car -- has never been worth less than the $150,000 Ford originally asked for it during the two years it was in production, ******

Hmm, I could be wrong, but.... I read that as them saying that it it has never been worth less than the 150k that was the msrp back when it was offered in 05 and 06.

Either way, I don't see the prices going down again.
