People are TERRIBLE- What I found in the yard this morning.

So just woke up and put on my shoes and took the dogs out this morning. Everything was normal. As I looked toward the back, I was shocked to see a dirty, mangled ball of fur. As I got closer I saw that it was soaking wet, freezing, and had a potato chip bag WRAPPED around its neck!!

I couldn't tell what it was exactly but I assumed it was a cat. Just to be cautious, I grabbed a broom to get the bag off. It was a cat so I wrapped it in a towel and brought it inside. She has a broken rib, and in a lot of pain. She is awake and keeps trying to move. I've gotten it to drink some water. I think it's going to make it.

People like this make me want to just
It has to be one of my neighbors too!

Nathan that's horrible.

Pathetic for a human to do such a thing.

I hope the cat makes a full recovery. Glad you did the human thing and helped it.

Doesn't look to be very old.

Hopefully, it will recover with your help.

Good on you!

What asshole puts a crisp packet on a animals head.

Nathan, after every thing's said and done with the cat (hopefully it's good news)

Perhaps let the Police investigate. Who knows if these people have other pets.

Take the poor guy in and give it a good home. Poor thing has most likely been abused its entire life.

I have two cats, both strays at one point. Love them to death now and they are without a doubt part of the family.

My wife and myself are real animal lovers and reading such story is beyond anything. Makes me really furious that people can treat animals is such way . Nathan, I hope you'll be able to save the cat. He will be grateful to you the rest of his live. I rescued once a kitten that was lost and was waiting in front my home door to be rescued. His entire live he has been a very adorable and grateful cat.

Well done Nathan, thumbs up to you!

Just to clarify, what did this person do and how do you know they did it? The description you give could have been caused many ways. Not looking for a fight from the animal lovers, i have a cat myself. Just wondering what info you have that someone intentionally harmed the cat. My cat loves to stick his head in bags, and fight and walk in the street.

Thanks guys, if it lives it's going to my grandmother. She has rescued a LOT of cats and one of hers had to be put down just yesterday unfortunately because of leukemia. I can't think of a better home for it.

Wetpet, I understand the question. I don't know who did it but my neighborhood is in a pretty isolated place and not the place stray pets just wonder or litter laying around. The poor thing was seriously on death's door. It can't walk or stand only squirm into a less painful position and was having trouble even staying conscious. On top of all that it had a few cuts on it and a broken rib.

Nathan

This world needs more people like you.

My thought would be post some signs with the pictures and a description in your neighborhood.

Show people the difference between right and wrong.

Thanks you guys, it really means a lot!

Great news, the vet says that it will make a full, speedy recovery!

Champagne, normally I would do that but my grandmother's really is the best place for it. I know she will take great care of it and it will help her get over her other one dying which has been tough for her.

Sounds like ti all turned out well - my thought in making up signs was to show what some d-bag did and how you brought the cat back to life making the wrongdoers aware along with your neighbors what transpired.

When I was about 10 or 11 I was always helping my friend deliver the saturday morning paper. One morning when we got to the paper drop, a couple other kids were standing looking at something. We walked up and saw a cat totally mutilated. It wasnt hit by a car or something, and it wasnt torn up by an animal. It was cut up, and it left an indelible impression of the level some people would sink to. Some people who walk among us really need to be taken out.

Whatever happened to it, glad to see you are making the right decision to have it looked at by a vet and offer it to a good home.

I am not a cat person at all but no animal needs to be left to die for no reason.

They say God works in mysterious ways, and maybe that’s the reason it ended up in your backyard.

Don't forget to post pictures when it gets better!!!

I just caught this thread: Horrible, to any living thing. I am both a cat and dog person so that outrages me.

[taking deep breaths]

as Mario says, how the kittay doin'.....I'd have it off to a vet but if you got it under control then good.

It is doing great. It's very friendly and is also getting along well with my Grandma's other cats. I did take it to the vet and they said everything was good. I'll post pics next time I see him.
