Ever Heard of Bitter?

I was on Craigslist looking for some bargains (as always) and I came across this while I was searching for Maserati:
1985 Bitter SC Coupe
I have never even heard of one before, anyone know much about them? I quite like how it looks.

Ciao Jules

Try this explaination: How Hard Can It Be? Bitter SC and Ferrari 400i - CarEnvy.ca | CarEnvy.ca

I actually saw a new one in LA Freeway back in the 80's, and stuffed with a family. I was impressed at the time as he threaded quickly, safely through the traffic.

wouldn't own one today though.

I agree, neither would I, but it looks great,IMO, almost makes the 400 look stale ! Impressive it can get a whole family in it too, I wonder why it didn't become popular?

IIRC, Opel drivetrain with modified chassis and custom body. Very pretty.

Correct. You used to see them now and again as Iwas growing up. Extremely rare these days.

Oh yes, very rare and bespoke in the 80s. They were quite unknown even then as people thought they were like Sbarro due to their low volume nature (which they were not in any way).

There is a chance I may have some Bitter brochures in a box somewhere, if I find them you would be welcome to them.

Bascically an Opel Senator.... Nice clean design. These were Ferrari 308 money when they were new. Not exactly a bullet either. I recall 0-60 times in the 9 second range with a leisurely high 17, low 18 second quarter mile. They are rare for a reason.

I don't think they made but 400 or so of them.

I remember first hearing of Bitter as a kid in the 80's - it was in one of my Top Trumps packs, the Bitter Type III! If I recall the spec was terrible and it would generally lose.

It's like a 308 gt4, Biturbo Maserati, and a 456 had a baby. I like them but what would you do with it?
