To be honest Ferrari's aren't as bad as people make them out to be. I am not saying they are Hyundai affordable mind you, however depending on the year the cost of up keep with a diligent owner is not bad.
In most things Italian and SuperCar circa 70s thru the early 1990's is that they
required the engines to be removed during major services. The newer stuff does not require as much disassembly and or to be removed for servicing. However the electronics aspect comes into play. For the older machines it is much easier to up date them and keep their servicing costs down.
Of course to each machine it's own, there are known faults or issues and you address them according to your requirements if factory is not satisfactory, you evolve and go with other then factory.
