I got a new Radar in my ****458***

So I got a radar in my new 458. I was undecided between several different radars but good thing a friend of mine made the decision for me by recommending K40's new RL 360 radar detector that he just got is his California. This is the third radar that I have every owned the two prior being Escort and I was kind of leary to change from them but I am glad I did. K40's new RL 360 is definately the best radar I have had to this point. I love that they finely incorporated GPS features with there's especially there " Quiet Ride " feature absolute genius. The new design is very impresive and I would highly recommend this radar, so I am sharing my thoughts, check it out !

just spent a few $$$ having the K40 extracted....hope to replace it with an escort using same lights etc in the dash. Extracted as it was a lousy install by the previous owner ... sapping power all the time.

so, being that's my take, and not dissin' your new K40, can you tell us as a former Escort user what is better? would be interested.

In addition to Escort... I'd be interested to know how this is better than a V1 as well.

Well the biggest is performance, it is second to none. The K40 RL360 incorporates a rear radar reciever which the Escort does not, that alone will tell you whether the the threat is in front of you or behind you ( Directional Awareness ). Also if you appreciate your Ferrari and like to keep it the way it is, then you should go with a K40, the Escort has a display and control head they have to mount somewhere inside, I personally do not want something fabricated in this vehicle. They pay for speeding tickets and lastly there have all of the same GPS feature as the Escort does as well as many they do not that are a huge help like there " Quiet Ride " Feature, it allows you to set a certain speed on the radar and as long as you are going under that speed it eliminates the audio alerts, example I do a lot of in town driving so I set my quiet ride at 35MPH and as long as I go under that I do not hear from it then once I go above it I am speeding and the audio alerts kick back in....... Adjustable to 65MPH awesome feature gets rid of a lot of falses. As far as the V1, well the V1 is a dashmount and old hasnt changed since it came out, I dont compare installed units to dashmounts but it is ok for what it is.

Check it out

Sounds cool but isn't the Escort dash mounted too?

BTW, the GPS setting is cool but other than that the V1 seems to offer the same tech. The fact that it hasn't changed in so long isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Sensitivity setting...

Front, rear and sides alert.

Optional quiet mode

remote installation....

You mentioned that you don't compare installed units to dashmount but near as I can tell the escort is also dash mounted.

I am confused, are you talking about the Escort 9500ci or the V1. The 9500ci is an installed radar meaning the recievers and shifters are installed into the vehicle, the V1 is a unit that mounts on the whinshield some people mount the box on the outside and use the small head unit but little do they know it is NOT designed for that ie: WATERPROOF OR MADE TO BE MOUNTED ON THE OUTSIDE. The V1 does NOT have quiet ride, GPS or front and rear, side alerts. The uniqueness about the V1 is they claim of dual horn on the actual reciever ( Horn facing tords the front and a horn facing the rear but in the same housing. Well that does not work when it is mounted on the outside of the vehicle radar recievers CAN NOT detect through METAL.

Ahhh... noted. I see the 9500 ci is installed.... That wasn't readily apparent to me. I was talking about both. The K40 does seem pretty feature rich in comparison... and I guess it is apples and oranges when compared with a V1.

BTW.... I'll concede to the GPS but the V1 does indeed have front side and rear alerts. It works quite well too. Never heard of anyone mounting it outside the vehicle though.

Yes the V1 can claim it's front ,side and rear detection because of it's unique design of the dual radar hornin one case. A horn is facing the front and tords the rear, never eally understood the side though, if that goes off might as well pull over cause that means he is right accross from you.....LOL. It is good for what it is but it is only a Dashmount, I would much rather get an installed unit.

I'm a cheap bastard so i move my v1 around from car to car (6 of them) so an installed unit won't work for me. I do recommend that everybody get some kind of radar, especially with all the fixed cameras around here. Excellent investment.

after being involved in tests of laser jammers and radar detectors for a while i suggest any 9500 for less false alarms in city and a good antenna range , in parallel with laser interceptor.
if u go with less than LI (laser interceptor) you may wanna veil your headlights , also as a note when laser gun is involved all the reflective ( chrome , licence plate , headlights etc) from front of the car, are the one who send the signal back to the gun.....

This is not something I would install myself, I would get it installed. I personally paid $1900 for the product installed, the install took 1 day go on K40's website to find a dealer around you.

" CosminTX " LI is being sued and going out of business

And the new K40 RL360 radar detector is definately better then any 9500 series hands down.

Thanks for the info. I will have to go to another country for an install (US) because they are illegal in Canada. I have an old plug in one I got when I was younger (still have it by the way) but it's old school, no laser, just hair dryer guns.

BTW, can ayone one of you post a picture of what the sensors in front and rear look like on your car? I would like to see how it looks.

Thanks

~

DOES the new K40 RL360 reject being ID'D by the Specter RDD systems?
