World Cup 2010

Hi All

We are just two weeks away from the start of the World Cup and the here in SA the spirit is building beautifully. At least every fifth car has flags attached to it and in order to get involved I have put some wing mirror socks onto the 911 Turbo. If the the 308 was running (engine being rebuilt) I would put them on it as well!

SA is looking unbelievable with all the infrastructure projects now being complete (the Gautrain, our "subway" project that ran late excluded!!!). I am going to Soccer City tonight to watch South Africa play Colombia in a warm up match which should be awesome.

Are any of you guys coming out to SA for the football?

Regards and take care

Mike

I saw the 95K+ person stadium today in the news: Very nice. That glass roof looks great, but thinking it will most certainly drown out the fans.

Does anyone know which COMCAST channel will carry the Cup? I have tried title searches and cannot find it...even on the FoxSoccer chan.

Well, I can report back that the stadium is absolutely spectacular. It was a sellout last night - close on 100,000 and at least our team won!!!

Probably 25% of the cars around here are flying England flags now.

The English team arrived here yesterday. This place is going nuts. We have had "Football Fridays" nationwide for the past few months where people are encourage to come to work in football shirts. Even at the banks!

On Wednesday at 12:00 there has been a call for the whole country to stop what they are doing, go outside and blow their Vuvuzelas (a plastic trumpet that all of you watching on TV will no doubt hear!) for five mnutes.

Almost all businesses are closing at 12:00 on the day of the opening game.

Truly inspiring and gives me goose flesh.

Go Bafana Bafana!!!
