Bonneville Salt Flats

Does anyone have experience racing a car on the Bonneville Salt Flats?

I sent an email today to the group that manages the area and will follow-up with a phone call. Just curious if anyone has experience doing this and if its as easy as getting a "T-time" like you do in Golf etc.

Hi andrew not too sure about getting a slot for the run. However you can check the top gear runs on the bonneville salt flats: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrKPPdTuk8I

This was the info I received. I was hoping to head up there in two weeks for a long weekend and some R&R. Never been and it's on my list of cool things to do in life.

World of Speed Sept 15 - 18 info is at www.saltflats.com
Any records set at the above 3 events if fastest for the year will go in the next years rule book.
There is an all/only motorcycle event that uses FIM and AMA classes and records it is generally the first week of Sept and info can be found at www.bub.com

Salt flats racers send an entry in when they think their vehicle is ready. Show up if it is, get in line when they feel like it and go when it is their turn. No one has a set time to run and no classes have a set time to run. You will also want to be there the first few days of which ever event you pick. As the racers run they break or set their records and then will pack up and go home.
Hope this helps and hope to see you on the salt.

I hope this helps.

I only know of two persons directly involved in the runs. Brian Crall, who's team reached the 200MPH Club IIRC last year, and anther person into Motorcycles who lives in Sacramento.
