Here's what $4,000 will buy

My Dad just picked this one up. '00 Lincoln Town Car, fully loaded, V-8, traction control, heated leather seats, cd player, everything. Nice full size car, not a speck of rust anywhere. 65,000 original miles. Engine clean and strong. Only four thousand dollars.

Yeah, I looked at buying a cd player for the house and it was going to be like $1,000 all said and done. My Dad is 67 years old and he comes over with his $4k car and he's like, "Check out the cd player!" The stereo in his car is nicer than the stereo in my house.

Amazing: Just priced parts for the 348 for rebuilding.....

that is about less than a PAIR of motor mounts from FoNA OEM prices [minus shipping and tax]. BARGAIN.

NOT a hijack.....but you DID get a lot of car for $4K
Which brings up the point of value over time and why not. That car would be good to go for another 20 years IMO.. engine rebuild, trany rebuild what evuuuh, the cost vs new and depreciation and such makes that an EXCELLENT BUY. I don't care if it burns gas to 5MPG, it will still pay over time.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this car will last for the rest of my Dad's life. I'll probably end up with it 20 years from now. Along with the '59 Edsel he's had forever. I think he said he's getting 18-20 mpg with it.

Dude...you spend half your time in S'Pore and the best value you can find with 4 grand is an old Lincoln. I would think 4K would get you a beach front bungalo with enough fresh young meat and Red Bull to start your own "letter to the editor" column in Penthouse Forum.

He got tired of the local stretch-bling. Wanted something different.

Lane, It's my Dad's car. He's trapped living with my Mom and yes, this is the best he can do with $4k. As for me, did I tell you about when I went to the Philippines and met my girlfriend's family and it turned out that I was older than her Dad? Or the last time when I went there and rented a fully furnished 2-bedroom house and had 2 girls living with me? Or when I was in Philippines and had sex in the morning, got on an airplane and flew to Singapore and had sex with another girl in the evening? 2 different girls in 2 different countries on the same day. That's an international playboy there.

So don't worry Lane. The $4k Lincoln was my Dad's purchase. I'm still out there making you proud.

Hmm....Bringing Dad out to Singapore for a mother-daughter tag team would be a hell of a birthday present.

Thanks

Just for the record, my mother's Lincoln Continental has about twice the horsepower as my 308.

I love some of these luxuary cars that have depreciated A LOT!

I've been looking at maybe buying a 99-02 Jaguar Vanden Plas just to run around town in. I dont need it, but what a sweet car for the cash. Still think I might buy one, just battling mentally about how much I would use it to justify buying it.

Of course tint the windows and perhaps wheels & tires.
