Woman

My wife is tired of driving in my sweet thing. She hates it because so many men stare at us in the car. She is upset when people ask me questions about it when I get out of the toy. When I accelerate to get on the freeway, she tells me I am going too fast even thou I am under the speed limit.

I no longer can go out to eat, the theater, or over to friends in the beast.

Do any of you have a similar problem?

Not I sir. We have 3 sons in elementary school so when I take her out, it is either me alone, with a friend, or one of the boys. In addition, she bought it for me so for her to complain would be a big problem. She loves the car and never has to deal with the attention and questions that it derives from the general public as the wife is never around when this happens. Maybe in about 12 years we might get the time to actually drive together in the car, but I have 12 years+ to go.

That sucks... no issues with the Ferrari.... The Mustang is a different story though.

My wife hates my cars and won't drive in them for the same reasons.

My wife is the same, when i took her out in the Daytona, and on the one and only time she went in it, i kept it under 3000 rpm and she started screaming just as we left our village, so i had to turn around and come home. I should have married a bloke! Maybe not!

I did join the TVR club and there is a single girl, blond, 6ft 2 and a looker, who takes her two TVR's to the Nurburgring to race, it's like bees around a hunny pot when she arrives at a meet, [ I have been Banned now from the TVR club by you know who]!

Re my two boys, it was fine when they were little, but now they are 16 and 17 both well over 6ft, and don't seem interested any more, so its me and the dog from now on. [ not really as the dog stinks most of the time]!

My girlfriends always want to go in the Ferrari - once. Then they prefer the comfortable but equally classy Roller DHC. My advice is: Get a Corniche in good condition. It is a great feeling to switch between the extremely different car philosophies of the Cavallino and the Roller.

Use the Roller when cruising with your wife and meditate alone in the Cavallino. A good hard drive in a Ferrari will send most women screaming into the distance the minute you stop.

Another alternative is changing wives; or get a mistress who likes riding in a Ferrari.

I hope you find a solution that makes you happy.

Exact same situation but I prefer not to look at it as a problem but rather an opportunity. If I say "I'm taking the Ferrari", I'll be rewarded with peace.

By the way, referring to your signature "12 cylinders or walk"; maybe she should take a walk...

I fall somewhere between the extremes here. My wife refuses to go to weddings in the Ferrari, because she is afraid it will stand out too much and upset the bride!!!!! But she'll go in the AMV8 because that is more "understated" - her words!

Also she won't allow me to collect her from work in it (she's a school teacher).

Now getting her on to the back of the Ducati - well that's another story altogether. But it does happen very occassionally...

That sounds sooooo familiar: my wife hates the car, and guess what: I don't mind either

My wife didn't ride with me very often in my 944, but it had to do with the fact I drove like and asshole.

No you are not--yack away--you are one of us: My wife, when we have cars available, and I'm talking the Ferraris here, will always drive one to work as I the other: Nice sight seeing her driving with me.

She's a car nut, more so than I even. I am going to be posting a thread here over the next two-four months showing her doing a Mondial T / 348 engine out tuneup.

- valves
- guides,
- water pump
- trans, for updating some grease and o-rings,
- belts, etc. etc. etc.
and
if that recirc-vapor canister has toasted the 7 & 2 piston as suspected, then you are going to see her do the rings, and re-ground valve seats too.

It will be a pictoral, and she looks good in blue-jeans and stubby wrench

Not all gals are as polarized nor are as all guys. I have no problems with my gal, rebuilding her motors and certainly not the T.

So, BART: Sorry for your problem.....my wife would look at your problem and just shake her head... not in disgust, but confusion.

The passenger seat in the 328 is rather narrow. I use it as a "go, no go" gauge. If they don't fit comfortably in the passenger seat...

On the contrary, dear Eve!

Your presence here as a ferrarista makes these poor guys cheer up as they see that there are girls out there with a true passion for the cavallino. I bet they would even be a bit envious of any boyfriend/husband you have, have had or will have - lucky him!! I sympathize with these fellow ferraristi. They have a very real dilemma inhibiting them from sharing a great drive with their loved ones.

I occasionally see the same problem in yachting where it is not just about sharing a weekend drive in the Ferrari or both driving in their own. In yachting it is rather a two-three week cruise or more. That is the same dilemma but on a whole new level. Still I see many of them work out a solution with their loved ones that works.

If the yachtsmen/women can find ways to keep both parties happy with their extremely time consuming hobby, I am certain there are ways for the ferraristi to work out something acceptable. After all, the time with the cavallino is distributed in much shorter doses than in yachting.

If it is any help or consolation to all you ferraristi with this problem: Try and put it into proportions. You could have been a sail-or-die yachtsman instead of a ferrarista, or you could have been in the same situation but with a Trabant or a Lada instead of a Ferrari - Think about it...

Hoping you will find a satisfying compromise, I send my kind regards,
il Cavallino

I used to have the same problem w/the TR.

She thinks the TR is too flash. It would be even worse with a yellow Diablo VT. (smile)

When I bought a 360 (silver) she felt less conspicuous.

So, we use the 360 when she is with me and I drive the TR solo.

I dont get it

I dont get handbags.

I dont get it about shoes that cost two months disposable income

I also dont get those soft toy bears with pinks hearts on the front containing the word cute or love

I guess its sort of the reverse of women not getting Ferraris

Eve...perhaps we should make it more gender nuetral. The issue is not really "my wife" but rather "my spouse". In my specific case its "my ferrari hating spouse".

Please do not ever read it mean anything else.

When we say anything that can be taken as "us against them" read it to mean ferrarista vs. everyone else. Gender is not really important.
