Thought Ferrari filters were Expensive - How about your house?

Changing the filters in my house. I've got 5 filters in my house. 1 for oil, 4 for water. The oil filter for the furnace is $13. Not too bad. Now we get to the water. I have a sediment filter off the pump. That filter is $20. Now the water going to the refrigerator has an inline charcoal filter that costs $13. The refrigerator itself has a filter that costs $50 (but I found one online for $34). Then I've got this boiling water dispenser on my sink for making instant coffee and noodles and stuff and it also has a $30 filter.

So for me to change the filters in my house is over $100. At least I have the knowledge that the ice in my drink is made from the cleanest water money can buy. The water you buy at the store is not as clean as the water that comes out my ice maker.

So whenever someone complains that the oil filter for their 6-figure Ferrari costs $50 you can say that's not too bad considering that's the same price as the filter for my $2,000 Frigidaire.

Wish you hadn't brought that up Pete. Only reminds me that I should probably do a similar check on my own house. Incidently - don't you have an air filter for an oven/hob extractor unit too??!!!

I have Bosch extractor/oven and hob and they say you can put their filters through the dishwasher to clean them, no need to replace them as often. I haven't tried it yet.

Jesus lads,
We should move this thread to the, "Sad, domestic, chores that our wives/girlfriends/housekeepers/mothers should be doing" section. And it should definitely be in a private section. Both your reputations from Asia will be ruined with all this talk of domestic work....

Thing is Barry, the reason me and Pete were able to get away with being in Asia is that we dont have wives, so we have to do all this domestic shit ourselves. Agree it hasn't done much to enhance our reputations. That's Pete's fault, he started this thread
