Autobahn crash involves 259 cars

Ouch....

Autobahn crash involves 259 cars

More than 259 vehicles were involved in a huge pile-up on one of Germany's main autobahns.

More than 65 people were injured in the crash, including 10 who were still fighting for their lives yesterday.
Emergency services used three helicopters and 40 ambulances to ferry the wounded to a number of hospitals.
The crash a series of three pile-ups on a 20-mile stretch came on Sunday evening as holidaymakers headed on to German roads as the school holidays began.
They happened on the A2 autobahn that links Berlin with the Dutch border near the city of Braunschweig and Hanover.
Police said heavy rain suddenly gave way to blinding sunshine, catching motorists unaware.
More than 350 firemen and other emergency service workers were called in to help clear the carriageways and get to the wounded.

As it was in Germany, there were probably more people who spoke fluent English than there would be in LA.

That's my point.

The INS catches over 100,000 immigrants/month coming into CA alone.

How many do they not catch?

That's a staggering number - 100K PM If the unnofficial figures for the UK are right, it's a similar number here too. The difference here is that our Government don't bother trying to catch them, when we realise they are already here we don't try to send them back to where they came from and then we give them free housing and every social security benefit going and tell them they can stay

Australia has the correct attitude to economic migrants.

Handing out benefits to those who do not support a system is a straight road to disaster.

Completely agree, that is why my country will soon be bankrupt. If you also allow a vote to people who get hand outs from the Gov't, the Gov't hope it will help them win the next election.

It's not all bad, there are still some very nice parts in the rural shires where you can meet a decent class of person, it has a lot of history and culture too, but it also has more than its fair share of people who think that the world owes them a living and have never done a days work in their life.

I took my son to the funfair at the east coast resort of Skegness today, it was horrible, there were far too many uncivilised fat people there showing off too much flesh and too many tattoo's (and that was just the women)

I think they call this "massenkarambolagen" and it's something we hear of from time to time usually in the German highways. I wonder why...

Garage
Who wants to bet that this will be the end of the super highway? There will be tonnes of protest for this catastrophe that will sure bring more stringent rules about the speed.

I'm not so sure. It's happened before and still there are several areas where there is no limit. But you never know.
