My little Fiat Panda got his first award

I know this won't be of interest to too many on FL but after weeks of work I took the car to one of the biggest show and shine shows here. Never thought for a minute a little car I used over the winter in the snow and salt with 111,000 miles under it's wheels would come runner up in class. What makes me proud though is it was beaten by an 'original' Fiat 131 Abarth with 11k on the clock, 100k less than mine.

A proud me.

And a happy little car.

That has got to be one of the coolest things I've ever heard. An almost winning Panda. It's also quite disturbing...

BTW: The 131 ABarth is a very cool car. No shame in losing to that.

Thank you guys. I'd put a lot of work into it. There was a 355 in the same catagory. It was owned by the guy with the 131.

Bas I'm still trying to work out if thats a compliment

Stu, it's a big compliment. You lost only to something that has far more appeal to most people yet you made your Panda look so good that it almost won. And it beat a ferrari although that shouldn't be too hard since they're crap anyway

I say it's disturbing because you also seem to have brought your 500 (at least... I think it's yours) yet it didn't win. I want the 500 to always win. Yes... I'm a cartypist (racist for car types )

Do you have any more pictures from the show? There's a Citroen DS in the back that looks rather good.

Your wish is my command.

And this is how I got them to the show. Boy did I get some double takes on the way.

This is the car that beat me. It is an original 131 Abarth rallye with 11k on the clock.

Not from my site but here's some photo's of other stuff at the show.

So get this: the Panda had to work hard before getting to the show... it's a car that almost everyone completely ignores... that Abarth was probably driven on a trailer to the show... and STILL the Panda was second. Frakking AWESOME.

Love the Combo Stu What engine's in the Panda? Trailer with the Bambino has to weigh 650 kg? Quite a lot. Trailer does seem to have it's own brake though... that's quite handy. Our own trailer with Fiat is around 700 kg (ours looks like a bigger and heavier trailer) and trailers under 750 kg in The Netherlands don't legally need own braking. Sometimes it's almost too much for the brakes on the pulling car (like downhill in the mountains of Switzerland two years ago).

By the lords of Kobol that's frakking awesome

The Panda has a 1000cc engine. The trailer was purpose built for smart cars so the 500 fits it perfectly. It pulls the combo quite easily at 50mph, well apart from hills which mean it's down to 3rd gear and hope for the best.
Yes the Abarth was on a transporter that was carrying it, the yellow Evo and a Fiat tractor.
