Dino 246 GTS changing paint to blue

Guys , my Dino originally was blue and now the previous owners at some point in history changed it to yellow and i was thinking in having it painted back to the original blue.
Any thoughts ? Need some opinions!!!

Giallo is beautiful, but in most cases I prefer originality.
Blue would look stunning, but I would only do that if it's part of a high-grade restoration.

The car i now it was originally a Dino blue. I do not know the color. I have never seen it but in spite of originallity i would change it. Blues in general i do like them and having in my barn a blue Ferrari i would not mind!

Pablo, you can locate any posts or threads by ianuk and click his name, which would give you his data. Under the contact tab, click that and it should display his PM .

Otherwise, search in the members' list to do the same. I hope this helps.

A near-platinum level of restoration vice a mere respray.

There are a couple of Blu Sera's (mind the spelling: Blu without E as it is Italian ). My 330GTC is the most common one, I think. Blu Sera Metallizzato. I think it's gorgeous.

I would have to say that if I were the one doing this, I would only restore the Dino to the exact original colour. Shouldn't be too hard to find out what it was.

I think I boosted the colours a little bit too much on the 4th photo. The last one is a little too dark. First 3 show the colour very well.

P.S. I still find it funny looking at the bald thread on my rear tyres in the first two pictures - I owned the car only 3 days then. The last pic is from a year and 5,000kms later. I would only change the tyres by the time I got back from holiday, another 5,000kms later... No wonder she was a bit tricky in the wet!!

Paint colour is like clothes, change when you feel like it. Alhough an original paint in very good condition would be painful to remove, for me at least. Nevertheless, that didn't stop me from respraying my stupendous Corniche from Tudor Red to Silver Sand so, what ever makes you feel happy.

Pablo- What was the original paint color? Here is a site with lots of pretty blues.

I agree with Taz. Look in the hidden areas not usually done on typical older resprays [body off entire redos were somewhat rare].

That would mean interior pieces in the door wells, or near foot rest areas, if there, or wheel wells and some interior engin areas etc. IF one could look at the glass area carefully the original color can be found.

then on Taz's link or using a paint chip, get it done correctly.

Which might mean a full body repaint: Expensive as in taking off all pieces to include glass etc. Not for the faint of heart.

Blu Chiaro - This is the correct version for the Dino. Many cars have wrongly been painted into the version used on the 308 which was a completely different colour.
