The link to the TG website says that it will be more expensive than a F430 Spider, which blows away the myth that it was going to be an affordable Ferrari and it was going to harm their exclusivity.

I'd still rather have a 308/328/355 GTS and save the best part of £100K/$200K

I agree...although I am not to fond of the 612 design. I wasn't originally that into the 550 design but it has definitely grown on me

Mmmmm, I'm not sure about it, I think it's one of those designs that will take time to grow on you. It's not an instant hit.
+1

IMHO, it doesn't look clean like the traditional Ferrari style

looks kind of polluted, like a Japanese car...

and the exhaust tips really didn't make it for me

plus the 7 gears (only F1, I guess) looks like the end of the click-clack that I love so much

still, the interior looks great and I kind of like the concept

anyway, I'd go for the F355, like Archie said

Did you guys see the photo's already? They were posted at 10am GMT today (only for registered users).

Personally, I like it a lot, but not a fan of the exhaust configuration.

The specs: 4.3l V8, 0-60 in less than 4 secs, folding metal hard top, 460 bhp.

The name: Ferrari California.

Both of them? I don't think a dialysis machine is on the options list...

I have it on fairly reliable source that it will be priced very slightly above the F430. Hardly cheap, then. I think this is why Ferrari have always denied they would be bringing out a cheap Ferrari or even one named "Dino".

Ah, there was a thread about this car here as well.

Personally, I like the design a lot more than I did the 599 or the 612 when they first came out. I think it'll look great in the metal. Hopefully we'll see something on the road in Maranello - I'll be there on Friday.

Ciao tutti

And again Ferrari design disappoints me.....some promise but relatively boring

I'm sure the engine, suspension, performance and handling will be incredible but when will the body style mach the performance specs

This is a Ferrari not a Maserati, Aston Martin or Jaguar, they need to stop looking at other designs and start being the innovators again...

My 2 cents

I do agree in how the design is a bit boring and doesn't have that edge...

The car looks like its custom made for the amrican market.
Dont know about the model maybe I just have to get used to the design. The exhaust I dont like but you always can fit them with aftermarket exhausts.

I think in real life you will get een better impression.

But indead more than a F430 is probally a bit too much why should you buy a california if you have a F430?

They are calling it a "2+" whatever that means. Another stunning fact is this:

ITS A FOLDING HARDTOP!

And still gets 0-60 in just under 4.0 seconds. The California’s 4,300 cc V8 engine features direct fuel injection and a “flat” crankshaft. It generates 460 CV at 7,500 rpm.

- 7-speed dual clutch transmission that boosts the car’s performance and reduces fuel consumption and emissions (c.310 g/km CO2).
- Look for a new multilink rear suspension system.
- The Ferrari California is also equipped with the exclusive F1-Tractraction control system which made its debut on the 599 GTB Fiorano
- Brembo brakes featuring carbon-ceramic material disks are standard

I kind of like it, but you can actually see the historical/modern compromises in the design. IMO they should have gone more retro, more curvacious or perhaps taken the specifc design of the original California and made it contemporary.

I am not sold on it at all. Given the choice I would much rather have a 430.

I can live with it, but it certainly doesn't have that "edge" as you guys put it of soem of the other Ferraris. It looks too bland...
