Tailor-made Ferrari California T - Official

Not a fan.

From the article:
Maranello, 20 April 2015 – Today, at Auto Shanghai (April 22-29, 2015)Ferrariunveiled a particularly stunning bespoke California T. This California T was created especially for the Chinese auto show to illustrate how Ferrari’s “Tailor Made” program allows a client to commission a car according to his or her wishes.

Like the exterior color & the door cards, seats are ok too but grey & tan are a classic combo!

Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery, today's a gift.....enjoy every minute!

I think it looks nice.

I can't understand why the side gill have been dropped.

I thought they were the crucial link to the California heritage.

California's are so much fun and from what Pete's told me the 30HS is a serious driver's machine. I would imagine the T would be very capable as well.

I can. It completely broke the car's lines. The idea was poorly executed; the way it curved the wrong way, pointing into the wheel arch instead of following it. Peter Stevens (a designer with some beautiful cars to his name, like the McLaren F1 and Lotus Esprit MkII) agrees with me.

I think the current car is a big improvement on all fronts.

I think the T bears no resemblance & why no front bonnet scoop, they've spoiled it IMO for the sake of updating to keep the gravy flowing, but I do like the rear end....

But why not just redesign the iconic Californian gills then Onno?

Just looked at a load of California pics and I still like those old gills. As Pete has also pointed out, the original California style bonnet scoop has gone.

I'm certainly not a car designer but it looks less Californian to me. Maybe Nevada T!!!

Just for comparison.

The middle pic is Scottish16m's fantastic Cali. (Could you post a few more here?)

For my tastes, the T should have had enhanced Californian features, not less. Maybe larger gills, beefed up bonnet scoop, rounder light assembly and driving lights in the grill.

Thoughts?

To my eye - this car's elegant understated style cues would be perfect if she wore a Maserati badge. One thing this car does demonstrate though is the level to which a customer can design their own car - which was the point I guess.

Cheers

Enjoy the journey so much you don't care how long it takes to get there.

First Ferrari with....

Convertible Hardtop
Dual Clutch Gearbox
Fuel Injection
Front V8 Engine
Last naturally aspirated V8

Spent over 1,000 hours in wind tunnel, slippiest Ferrari ever until the F12.

Lots of innovations in original California, which is what Ferrari is all about....

Whether you get the California or not, the 30HS is a driver & I think it looks terrific!

Btw, I don't like or get the 458 so its horses for courses!

Peter the Cali for sure has a place in my heart also... even in girly white!
they are a real Ferrari when you discuss it with the bods at Ferrari
They tell you its a grand tourer not an out and out race car
You just need to see how many they sold to show how successful its been.
I am looking forward to the T and having the odd drive in her as long as I am not too embarrassed as ours will be triple layer girly white!

Cars
458 coupe normale, California T, Speciale A, 458 GT3, FF Maserati Ghibli diesel!
on way in 2015: La F, and 488, 2016 488 spider

Tailor-made Ferrari California T - Official

Paul, whites not girly, I have not met one person who hasn't loved my white Cali & her combo. I think the colour accentuates her beautiful curves, especially when enhanced with the lashings of interior & exterior carbon fibre that adorn my mistress

The HS is a huge step up as a drivers tool & much more focused than the standard 30 I raced you with...it's more a racer, but I agree its also GT, it's still 1600kg so not a racer in same breath as you'd utter Scud, 16M or 458A, albeit its quicker than a Scud or 16M & its a great fun toy & you know I like to drive, so that alone speaks volumes for the 30HS!!!

Enjoy the triple white T....different beast to your balls out 458A, but that's their role & a successful one at that!!!

Great thing about being a true petrolhead like us, is we can have terrific fun & see merits in every car & not just some cars like others are stupidly blinded too!!!

ATB mate...

I love the look of your California.

The contrast of the white with the carbon fibre and dark roof is stunning.

The side gills look great in CF. Outside of your control of course but they could go larger for my tastes.

David.

I agree: the new Cali has lost the visual connection with the original that the previous one had.
