Ferrari Sergio Targa Based On Ferrari 458

from the article:
Ferrari's decision to build six production examples of the Pininfarina Sergio Concept didn't really come as that much of a surprise, since it's just a fantastic opportunity to make a ton of money. What is a surprise is just how little it changed from the concept. And how good it still looks.

I'm with you Ed, but do like the car over all.
I'd opt to have that section body color.
Not sure how they'll make a "ton" of money from only six cars.

Of all the narcissists I know, I love me the most.

Completely pointless exercise. You have to be seriously daft to want this car, it is just a standard 458 with modified bodywork, which is doesn't look as good as the regular car. And the rear of the car is p-ugly.

If this was a Mansory treatment I could tolerate it more easily. But coming from Ferrari? I am fearing the next designs if this is all they can do for $3 million per car....

Just a couple of bodywork parts and practically standard interior. I would expect 2 million profit per car.

I like the rear with the taillights but the rear grille should be full width. Everything else is better on a standard 458. Why not make a road version of the 458 GTC? Rgds///Thomas

Development of what, exactly....?

But yes. It costs around €100,000 euro to build a 458, so $140k. Leaves you $860,000 from a million. So with 6 cars, that gives you 5.2 million to design and manufacture some new panels if you want 12 million profit. Seems a pretty generous budget to me. Don't forget, when they build a one-off like Clapton's Boxerthingy they also charge $3 million, and there is a hefty profit margin on one-offs, where they usually also redesign the interior which has not been done here.
