458 @ sunset pic

I've been experimenting with lighting and photo technique at the hillside near my house. Sometimes I am quite fond of the result. Last night was one of those times. The high-resolution version is available if you click on the picture.

Cheers, Ben ( Too many toys, not enough garage space! )

Nice photo, Ben: just what tricks did you use to get that result?

Best wishes, John

Very nice picture Ben, maybe you can light up the back end of the rear wheel a little bit with photoshop!

Simply two exposures using available light - one for the car, one for the sky. Merge exposures via Photomatix, increase the contrast in the sky, add a vignette to remove corner distractions.

Beautiful photo Ben! Keep up with photographing, you have the eye for it The contrast is just right, the composition is perfect, colours are eye catching and the car is to lick your fingers. I don't see why would Ben mind if David and I myself have it as a desktop wallpaper

With photos/pictures on my mind; I have an idea to make a thread about pictures I made/took within a videogame called Gran Turismo 5 - I would post only Ferraris, of course. Until I can afford a real one

Wow, I love this image. A perfect moment captured in pixels. Not much room for improvement as far as I can see.

Cheers,
Scott

A popular technique these days. The resulting shot is called and HDR shot, from High Dynamic Range.

A problem with it is that people over-do it often, resulting in an unnatural looking shot. But yours really is fantastic.

Here is one that I did 6 years ago.

Yes, and agreed on over-doing it. Ideally the HDR picture should look like a normal photo with even lighting. That's what I tried for in my picture, and I'm pleased with the result. Your picture is also superb - the "car against the setting sun" shot is one I've yet to master.

Hoping I get mine when it's still warm outside, starts to get cold here close to Halloween. Really don't want to be driving on Michelin Pilot Cup tires in cold weather.

Made a bunch of special requests for my car, Ferrari would not do a radio delete for a U.S. car. Also requested absolutely no tech fabric anywhere on the interior of the car.

Looking forward to seeing pics of yours Ben. Ours might be on the same boat?

Actually, it's a rising sun.

Taken on a very cold morning - you can see the frost on the ground.

Beautiful shot Ben. If you don't mind me asking, what equipment are you using?

A canon 5Dmk3 and a tripod. Three exposures, HDR together with photomatix, light room to sharpen and add vignetting.

And about 30 shots which did not turn out as well
