458 SS (speciale spider)

To be launched I am told just before Paris motor show, 458 to be made. Sounds like a nice end to the 458 run.

the new 16M so?

I agree, sounds wonderful. Will it be a typical Ferrari 'limited' run of 458?

Ex's: Dino 308 GT4, 612 Scaglietti
The Rest: Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, Porsche 911 2.7s, Porsche 911 3.2 Carerra, Ducati 916... and the Land Rovers

Possibly the last of the non turbo V8's but sadly combined with a 0% chance of an optional gated manual shift! That lateral slide control is of course really impressive, but seriously??? Not wanting to upset you guys and I know I have 'banged on' about this like a broken record, but the technology is killing these cars.

I need Stefan or Tazandjan (or others) to reset me!

Don't be too surprised that in the future these cars will be powered by silent zero emission electric motors, aided by a killer and realistic 'V8 sound track' courtesy of a DJ or sound tech, lust for for us oldies who still remember.

The recent image of Sebastian Vettel (ok he is the enemy) limping around the Austrian GP at 20kph until a computer tech struck 'control alt delete' to suddenly dial up a violent 320kph, has damaged me.

Not to mention that i am probably jaded because I am currently going through the elaborate battery recharging process for my gorgeous 16M. I wish I could just push start it!!!

David.

Gated transmission? Who cares, manual transmissions limit performance, no one can shift as fast as the newer dual clutch transmissions.

Still never liked the looks of the 458 Spider, much more interested in adding an F12.

David- On any of the new Ferraris you may miss clanging the gear shift lever through the gate, but if you turn off all the nannies (except ABS) you can still scare yourself silly or entertain yourself immensely, depending on skill level.

Paul, ho ho ho, do not make me laugh !

As to your new acquisition, I have no doubt that the SS would reside with such owner who can bring the best out of her. Looking forward to your updates. I can almost envision the picturesque scenes of the SS with the owner zipping thru the scenic backgrounds. Full of envy.

Congrats Paul. Did not know you were getting one. How many miles on the FF currently? Still hoping to get back to Monte Carlo, shooting for 2015.

Paul- Looking forward to seeing photos of both. First I had heard of the SS. Sounds like a Chevrolet when abbreviated.

I doubt it will be called SS but that's what it's being called for the moment I am told.
