Need Help with a Part Number

I have a friend who is trying to help me out. He has a transmission that he is pretty sure is for my 458 but somehow it didnt get labeled when it came in and he said that the SLS and the 458 gearboxes look identical as far as he can tell and is not sure if it would work or not. So we dont want to go through all the trouble doing the swap and the transmission be wrong.

Can any take these stampings off the gearbox and cross reference them to see if they are for a Ferrari or Mercedes?

Here is the part number for the 458 DCT complete: 263938

The bottom sets of numbers seems to show the numbers of this particular gearbox built, 3360. Gearing for the SLS and 458 is likely completely different because of the hp/torque/redline differences, but you can search that on google. Those differences could be compensated for by rear drive ratio.

Why do you need a new transmission?

Here is what the transmission type and number look like on a 458. Looks like a different gearbox type.

So they dont put the part number anywhere on the transmission?

And I just looked at my original transmission that came out of my car all the numbers are the same except for that second row second set of numbers which is probably the production run or something.

The original transmission in this car lost Reverse and all the even gears I think it was. One half of the transmission was dead.

I put another transmission in and the problem im having now is that I dont have 5th or 7th but everything else works as it should. I dont know what the trouble codes mean but right now im getting P0882 and P1912. both showing Absent on the Leonardo.

The guy who sold me the second transmission warrantied it to work and said he drove the car it came from and it was working so he is bummed to say the least.

So now im working on trying to get transmission number 3. I just cant afford the money to put out for a new one from Ferrari and I had done this job on a California one time before with no issues so I thought it would be the same with this car - but no such luck.

The last two digits on top seem to denote the different models of the gearbox. On the California, they are 9306, on the 458 9324, and no telling where the 9362 you have is from. 3360 is a lot of transmissions. Likely not all the 458s have exactly the same transmission type, either, as running changes were made during production.

The last four digits on the bottom are the transmission number.

Probably best to ask the manufacturer which car that one belongs to.
