Door adjustment

Anyone know how to adjust the Driver's side door? Need to move it back towards the rear of the car a couple mm's. It is rubbing slightly against the clear bra of the fender when opening. Looks to be some silver bolts near the hinge when looking from the inside. Any help would be appreciated as my Dealer is 200 miles away and Service is closed tomorrow.

You may be able to loosen those (3) bolts and slide in back, otherwise you need to shim the hinge bracket which bolts to the door. Keep in mind that when you loosen those bolts you will also affect the door alignment from front to back also.

It's going to be a process to adjust that and get it all back into place. Usually, I have at least (1) helper and I will support the hanging end of the door with a floor jack. I like to put wood on the jack pad and fold up a towel as well to keep from damaging the paint.

Be prepared to spend a couple hours on it, depending how smoothly things go.

The joy of hand built cars, let alone ones with open tops! I assume the clear bra was installed right off the showroom floor, so this is a new issue that has developed after driving?

Yes, clear bra was installed before delivery. Don't have clear bra on door, just front fender, regarding any issues film might be causing.

The Sales Manager did have to climb into the car as the trailer he delivered the car in, was not wide enough to allow the doors to be opened when he backed it out. I close my doors on all my cars only with my forearm against the window, to prevent any fingerprints or scratches.

There has been no pressure added to the door at all, other than the door being closed, and him climbing in Duke's of Hazzard Style.

Ok, called Dealer, they sub this stuff to a body shop anyway, so my body shop will do it, if there are any charges, Tonkin will cover, they just asked that I take some photos.

Nick, soon as you get your first Ferrari, I will happily add fingerprints to your car. Let me know when it shows up.

Yes I do wash my cars. Best way to know every detail and notice anything amiss. I have a water softening system to make it easier on myself though!

Its not that we care what you do with your cars Mark, from my part it amazes me the lengths you go to to wrap your cars up in cotton wool, but each to their own & if it gives you pleasure then that's your gig.

What type of water system do you have? We have very hard water here too.

Do you think I am the only one that does that? Seriously? I have friends that wrap their entire cars.

Clear Wrap - ok thats possible, its good for protecting the paint, why not!!

But no fingerprints on the car seriously WTF!

I think its great to take good care for all your Cars, but open a bloody door with your elbow is something else to me... A bit Rainman likes Peter says haha

But ofcourse, everyone is free to do whatever they want with his Cars, all my friends think im an idiot because i always use special vinyl stuff to make my tyres black again lol

Good to know by the way how you think about people without a Ferrari, for me my car is important, doesnt matter that its not a Ferrari, i worked hard for it also, and i dont fucking care that i add fingerprints to it, you can wipe them off you know? Thats why some genius invented cleaning stuff.

Good luck with wrapping your car in all that great kitchen foil and opening and closing the doors with supersoft cloves and your elbows, when you get the chance to drive them over 80mph enjoy it..

Dont forget the towels on your seats, you might scratch them!

Ps: Maybe you can use a tennis over-grip around your steeringwheel, you might scretch it with your nails.
