Anyone had this phonebook problem?
I took delivery of my '13 Italia August 1st. For the first five months the voice activated telephone address book worked fine. Then it started failing as follows:
1) Push the VR button on back of the steering wheel
2) The VR lady says "Joe's cell phone"
3) I then say 'Call home' (or any other phone book entry)
4) The VR lady says "Would you like to call home?"
5) I say 'Yes'
6) The VR lady then says "No number stored" and waits for the next command
If you use the dashboard controls to look at the phone book, there are in fact numbers stored for all my contacts as you would expect. I can say 'Dial xxx-yyyy' and that works as expected.
I had it at the dealership for a few days. They updated the software and tried other telephones. Still no joy. They now say the factory is looking into it and will let me know when they have a solution. Once again, this worked flawlessly for five months.
Has anyone else encountered this issue?
Software doesn't break. This is something else.
The only car I ever used the phone system on was my Mercedes G55. It worked flawlessly for 30 days - it was done at the Mercedes dealer by a subcontractor. This one guy was the only one who knew how to initiate the system.
I followed his instrctions and updated the contact list and it crashed.
Updates have to be done in a certain mode - the updates were there but the system wouldn't recognize my updates sending the system into fault mode.
In other words - unless you have the Guru delete everything then re-install everything you are screwed on updates.
Wow, I have a little button on my car that I can push to see the outside temperature, but that is about as complicated as it gets. Phonebooks? Amazing.
My raptor has the Ford Sync. It basically works whenever it wants to. All this technology is BS
