factory-fitted carbon fibre shields - 458 Italia

New to Ferrari Life but have owned six Ferraris since 1989 namely the last RH drive 328GTS built, three 355 GTS, still the nicest modern V8 Ferrari built, a 360 spider and a 430 spider. I get my 458 spider March 1st ( triple-coat yellow ) after placing my order/deposit over three years ago!. Noted a member requested info on having genuine carbon fibre/chrome shields factory fitted - I requested these when I specified my car at Maranello's Atelier last year but still do not know if Ferrari have them available. I have ordered hub caps to this spec and matching shields would be great - I'll let you know the outcome.

Welcome. The good news is the F430/Scud shields fit the 458 perfectly and we have had a couple of owners fit them to their 458s. So if the factory does not do it, you can retrofit yourself.

458 carbon fibre shields

My 458 spider in triple-coat yellow has now arrived and will be handed over May 8th.

Still no news from Ferrari re: carbon fibre shields - the factory-fitted yellow ones look awful on the car - Ferrari told me March 2012 that carbon fibre shields would be ready in time to be factory-fitted - clearly this was not the case!

Anyone got any better news on this subject?

Beautiful 458.

Just curious, why do you say the factory yellow ones look awful? Because the F car is yellow?

The car is in 'triple-coat yellow' not the standard fly yellow. This colour Ferrari brought out just for the 458. It has a pearl finish to it and is a more 'lemon' ( ie. greener) shade than the fly yellow. Against this, the shields look drab and as I have the carbon fibre hub caps, it would be nice to pick up on this theme with

Welcome to Ferrari Life.

Beautiful 458!

Regarding the shields - grab a set of cf on e-bay. The 430 shields fit the 458 and I agree the car needs them to make the yellow contrast work. I posted a picture ... might want to add a cf fuel cap too.

Enjoy!

The carbon fibre parts certainly suit your grigio 16m - I did consider fitting a cf fuel cap but it looked totally wrong - it seemed out of place somehow against the yellow flank of the car.

Maybe Mark can post his yellow 16M with the cf cap.

I agree it breaks up the lines but I love cf - even have the cf handles.

If you look in the Scuderia 16M mod thread there are all sorts of pictures.

Also there is a new cf mod for your 458 - I don't have a picture but have seen a small cf shield in front of the rear tire - may want to ask your dealer.

Hi Doug,
I haven't seen the cf shield you mention - maybe it's not an OE part?
I had two 'Long Italian flags' factory-fitted below the 'Pininfarina' badge in front of each rear wheel - they look great but were silly money!

Thinking of getting the two fender shields wrapped in cf and then sticking a couple of chrome Ferrari cavallinos on them!

Danny- Why when you can get factory CF shields for $1000-1200? Also Giallo Fly has not been a factory standard paint color for decades.

At least in pics. Yellow badges look good to me. At the very least good enough til your CF arrive

CF Shields - from the horse's mouth!

The Ferrari Dealer who has my, as yet, unregistered,458 spider has arranged with the Ferrari factory for a set of Scuderia 16M shields to be sent to them next week. They will then see if they are indeed, a perfect fit - watch this space! Price? Who knows?!

I will post pics of the Pininfarina badges underlined with the factory-fitted 'Long Italian Flags' to you next week - the combination looks really great and I'm surprised that Ferrari don't fit this as standard.

Italian Flag/Pininfarina Badge

Photos of factory-fitted 'Long' Italian flag under Pininfarina badge on my 458 spider.

Carbon shields for 430 Scud arrived at dealer direct from Ferrari factory yesterday - watch this space!

Is there a real difference between triple coat yellow and the normal yellow ?
I mean does it show?

If you have any concerns as to whether or not they will fit, see this car here:

2011 Ferrari 458 Italia

Might want to call Ferrari of Seattle to see, as the car is for sale there. Why carbon fiber wheel caps have not been added is beyond my comprehension of the "style."

Yes it shows. Google it, you can see the pearly difference in the finishes. Certainly would hope so for the 20k it costs.

Triple coat yellow versus Modena yellow

Put next to one another under showroom lights, the triple-coat looks a 'greener' and slightly lighter shade. In bright sunlight, the difference is much more apparent - the triple-coat almost shimmers.

I think that charcoal grey wheels/interior etc go best with the triple-coat whereas black is amazing with the solid yellow. That said, it's very much a matter of personal taste - both colours suit the 458 perfectly.

This is why i have asked!!!! I have looked in youtube videos and i do not see the BIG difference! Probably in real life would be another story!
