365/400/412 Owners List

Thought it would be a good idea to make a list of 365/400/412 owners on Ferrarilife.

Please post up a picture of your 365/400/412 and some info about it. It's up to you what info you want to provide but an example would be:

Model: 400A
Year: 1979
Country: UK
Steering: RHD
Chassis number: 30415
Ferrari colour: Nero
Interior colour: Tan

In order to keep the thread on topic, please only post once in this thread with all the info you would like to provide on your 365/400/412.

Thanks.

J- That is a really nice 412. I always thought that series looks good in red. The cars look way smaller in person than they do in photos. Almost bought a Marrone 365 GT4 2+2 in 1981, but ended up with a bargain 308 GTS instead. The later cars like your 412 are much more civilized.

My dad used to say - call me anything you want but please don't call me late to dinner - seems I'm a tad late to this party but better late than ...........

1987 Ferrari 412GT ser #74099, blu chiaro/beige 5-speed manual; I bought this car in 2007 just before selling my prototipi 365GTC as I did not want to be Ferrari-less. A wonderful car well-known in Ferrari Club's New England Region, it has a Cavallino Classic Best 2+2, several FCA National Concours Platinum Awards and an FCA National Coppa GT Award. I have too many cars and last summer the car was sold, purchase agreement signed, for $60K; buyer had some business issues and backed out and I've had second and third thoughts about selling such a splendid car, last model with the Colombo 60 degree V-12. Here are a few images leaving the Saratoga Automobile Museum on a back roads rally/tour to a Lake George Club luncheon.

P.S. the pale yellow car two back of me is the 275 NART Spider that Denise McCluggage drove to a class win in the 1967 Sebring 12 Hours. She is driving her old car in this event, co-piloted by Francois Sicard, known to many on this list, who was her wrench in the '67 Sebring. That evening at dinner I sat beside our late lamented friend, John Fitch, with Denise on John's other hand. A fun and informative evening if I ever had one.

Seth- Very pretty car and looks immaculate. By the time the 330s, 365s, SOHC and DOHC, came along, and their 400/412 successors, the 60 degree V12s were a mixture of Lampredi and Colombo features. That process started a long time ago.

A quick follow-up to the posting above: I originally bought a 330 GT 2+2 (#8025) in 2004 after searching for a 330 GTC under $100K to no avail. While the 330 was a great car, and i might go back to it someday, my wife did not enjoy driving in it (the seats were not comfortable for her), she smelled gas, and to her the ride was rough (I had the shocks set pretty tight because to me the car handled better). Seeking a compromise, in 2006 I traded even up for the C/4. She is happier, and although the car needed quite a bit of work life is good!

Sam, life is indeed good and indeed you done good! I've never owned a C4 but I have driven one and years ago I did own a 330GT2+2. Your wife is right, the 330 isn't remotely the driving experience the C4 is, harder riding even without tightening the shocks. Completely different from her sister, the 330/365GTC's which are utter delights to drive. Don't give up hope for a GTC, the market works in strange ways and it may yet plunge again some day.
