Color codes Ferrari 400 GT

Hi.

I own a black 1978 Ferrari 400 GT. Does anyone know the correct color code for this paint. My original sticker in the trunk is missing from a respray many years ago...

Thanks,
Arvid

Arvid- Welcome to Ferrari Life. The paint Ferrari has used for Nero for years has been FER 1250 PPG Code 95150. Nero Metallic is FER 910 PPG Code 95130. Earlier Nero (60s and 70s) was Nero 20-B-50. Ferrari was using Glasurit paint in 1978, because that is what was on my 78 308 GTS.

Thanks Terry.

I have searched online for codes and found three types : NERO DS 1250, NERO FER 1240, NERO FER DS 1250.

Superformance sell Glasurit stickers with 1240 printed, but not 1250. The car needs some touch up here and there so I need to be sertain on this.

Arvid- FER 1240 looks to be about the same as FER 1250, except earlier so probably more correct, but I do not have a PPG code for it.

You can see examples of both here, with the 1240 on earlier cars.

Ferrari Colors

Note there is a typo in the 1998 PPG chart at the bottom of the site above. It shows both the metallic and non-metallic blacks as PPG 95130, when non-metallic should be 95150.

It seems that prior to 1980 Ferrari used paint from Glidden Salchi S.P.A. The only trace I can find online from Nero in the 1970`s is a paint called Nero 20B50.

It has a matt finish but this is ok I hope since it is covered with several cotes of clearcote ??

Now that the right paint code for my car most likely is determined, what is the periodically correct paintcode sticker for my car ?

I see that Superformance and Eurospares sell Glasurit stickers with two different layouts. One with a orange box around Glasurit logo, the other without.

Which is correct for 1978 ?
