Don't get me wrong, I think you guys and Coker tire here in the States are both doing a great service by specializing in unusual and hard to find tires.

That having been said, having a car that the owner intends to actually drive that requires tires that are available so infrequently is just a non starter. The cars that take these tires are not headed to Pebble Beach so having the exact, correct tires just doesn't matter. Just this week I sold a client 4 new 16 inch wheels and a set of tires superior to the TRX's, all for less than a set of the TRX's.

Like I said, thanks for what you do but I have given up on those things.

Hi Brian,

I noticed on your post that you sold a client new 16" wheels and new tires for less than a set of new TRX's. Was that for a Mondial and what wheels and tires? Price? I've got an '84 Mondial Cab that needs new shoes. Wow, the originals are foolishly expensive!

It was for a 308.

TRX tires are not only expensive but not very good either.

Ted Rutland has been getting container loads of Ferrari wheels at great prices form somewhere lately. Don't know if that includes anything as old as Mondial wheels or not but you should see what they have.

If Rutlands cant help there are several aftermarket makers of good quality wheels you can get and it makes much more sense than getting TRX tires.

Alternate wheels/tires

Hi Brian,
Can you recommend alternate aftermarket wheels/tires for a 83 Mondial?
I do not want to go the TRX route.
Thanks
Jeff

Didn't see this before.

Sorry but I am unfamiliar with what wheels are suitable for a Mondial.

Sorry Brian i have to disagree with your view on the TRX tyres. they were brilliant in the day and they are brilliant now. You can't beat Michelin for build quality and the TRX wheel and tyre combination is fantastic . I would suggest if you have had a bad experience with TRX tyre they must have been old tyres. My experience of changing a car back onto TRX wheels was superb, Granted it wasn't a Ferrari, but they suit cars of that period.

I realise it adds up to a big credit card bill, and occasionally they do go out of stock. you can only get them from specialists, but we do ship these things pretty quick all over the world and mostly without any shipping charge.
