Berlinetta Ghia-Aigle
96 M Miglia no 245 Yamano - Yamano
97 M Miglia no 266 Yamano - Yamano
This body of this strikingly beautiful Ferrari was designed by Giovanni Michelotti as a freelance effort while still under contract to Sig. Alfredo Vignale of Carrozzeria Vignale fame.
Michelotti’s drawings were transformed from pen and paper to coachwork by the respected Swiss firm of Carrozzeria Ghia-Aigle. The coachwork is extremely unique and the only known example executed to this design. While completed as a road car and fitted with a full interior, the chassis was built according to Ferrari records as an “Export Lungo” which is normally associated with Ferrari’s race designs. The exterior of the car was also rather competition in nature and notably void of superfluous chrome or aluminium trim. No bumpers were initially fitted at the front or rear, giving the car an overall and strikingly racy appearance.
Some sources note and identify this car as a Type or “Tipo” 212 Inter, however Ferrari Factory records are clear that this was in fact ordered new and built as a Tipo 212 Export |
