Default 2012 - Fair Lakes, VA C & C

Here is a link to last year's Fair Lakes C & C thread -

Fair Lakes Sunday Cars & Coffee, 2011

The unbelievably good weather continues - mostly clear, and 40F at 8:00AM! With weather like this in the second week of January, it's no real surprise that we had a great turnout at Fair Lakes today. While we didn't have quite the flood of Ferraris we had yesterday at Katie's, we still had a great group...

Oh Boy...Looks like you got me in every shot.

Glad I was behaving today! That new camera is really shooting some great shots.

Thanks - I especially like the last one, where you're preparing to negotiate for your wife's next car...

I have noticed the challenger and camero contingent are showing up at a lot more events recently.

We actually had more Porsches than anything else Sunday - probably 9 or 10, all together, including 2 GT3's. Chris C has organized the Viper owners, and they often show up as a group. We have a good showing of Mustangs and Corvettes every week at Fair Lakes. I have noticed that Challenger and Camaro groups are also coming to both Katie's and Fair Lakes in numbers. I especially enjoy it when people arrive with both new and old Challengers & Camaros. It's interesting to me to see the differences, and similarities.

I don't know how/why it happened, but Katie's this week had more Ferraris than I've seen in a while. I am really hoping that whomever arranged the 'Italian Car Sunday' at Katie's last year does it again. I missed it, and would LOVE to see that red car (Bizzarini?) with the aircraft rivets. Maybe you could convince the guy with the Lancia Stratos to bring his car out to a smaller event?

Hey Bob,

Thanks for keeping up with Fairlakes. It's great to see the turnout of cars even in this weird weather pattern.

By the way...I sent you a PM.

I'm kind of digging those Caddy XLR-Vs.

Cold this morning - mid-20's, and occasional breeze. Still, dry weather means we will have a fair number of hardy souls who bring their cars out. An excellent turnout, all things considered.

Note the 5 new-model Challengers. A 6th one, in white, stopped by later.

We had two Ferraris, a Porsche, a Viper (Chris & his dad), a Corvette, A Subaru STI and a Mitsubishi Evo, as well as a GT-R and a couple of Mustangs, along with my Lotus. Later, a group of German cars showed up - three RS4's and an M3.

Clear but chilly today, but last week's snow meant everyone was anxious to come out - we had a good amount of cars, including several new people.

1st picture: a 370 & a 360.
Bobert's 355.
Steve's Turbo.
Admiring the XK8 covertible.
Dino's Shelby Series 1.
Porsche.
Exige.
4 Challengers - I think we had 9 new Challengers there today.
Chris' Viper.

A damp day, but good attendance. No Italian cars in attendance today. Hal, who just moved up from North Carolina, had his green Elise. Kalani brought his new Carrera S. Bobert drove his Z06. Word is definitely getting out about this Sunday Cars & Coffee at Fair Lakes shopping center in Fairfax, VA.

I wimped out today - I figured that the cold (24F), wind (up to 45mph gusts), and the light, swirling snow would mean nobody showing at Fair Lakes. Boy, was I wrong. My wife & I went over late - around 9:30AM. Amazingly, the majority of cars there were front-engined, rear wheel drive, and high horsepower, as well. Can't keep these guys away!

Hey Bob,

I'm not sure if you've spoken with Bob (Lister Jag) W., but I just read that with the weather being a little crappy this Sunday they are going to have a "Holiday Edition" of C&C. So this week (President's Day Weekend) there will be a C & C on Monday same place, same time. If the weather does improve for Sunday then come out both days!

Hope to see you on Monday!

Thanks, Bill - I saw it on two other forums. I'll be there both days, if it's nice!

See you there...

No snow or rain this morning. A pretty decent number of people showed up - but no Italian cars. We might have even more cars tomorrow, because of President's Day.

Default Fair Lakes, 02/20/12 - President's Day Session

Several of us took advantage of the Monday off to have another Cars & Coffee at Fair Lakes. Chris C., who seems to be everywhere, showed up. So did several other regulars, and a few new people.

Note the snow on the SUV in the last picture - it didn't snow here, but it did south of our area!

A large number of cars showed up today. Chris C. organized a good crowd of people, using this venue as a gathering place to start up to Pennsylvania for the Amish Country Cruise. Not very warm, but at least it was sunny, and not windy today.

Dan & his wife brought out their 360, and we had some impresssive Porsches. Dino had a 650hp Berger Camaro.

Clear, cool and windy today, but a big turnout... The Italians showed up today.
