Default audio installation

I'm looking for a new sound system for my land yacht (2004 mercury gran marquis) I'm starting off with a new head unit and new speakers front and back. I'll eventually upgrade to an external amp and sub. My plan is to have a 4 channel amp, 2 channels powering the front speakers, 2 channels blocked for sub and the head unit providing fill power to the rear speakers.

Any suggestions on a decent installer in the silver spring area? Also looking for head unit and speaker suggestions. I'm considering a Pioneer DEH-P6900UB. Not sure on the speakers.

I have a 3 child limited budget so I can't go nuts.

Focal, Boston Acoustics and Polk are the top three speaker choices for quality. For head unit stuff, the new Alpine Imprint series is cool...it comes with everything to perform "Time Alignment" tuning.

If you want navi capabilities, Pioneer excels there.

Hey Joshua,

Cool suggestions. I was just checking out the cda-9887 which appears to have the imprint built in. I'm guessin that you also have to purchase the management system along with it. It goes a little deeper into my budget.

I also was checking out the cde-126bt but that doesn't have the imprint module which is another $120 or so plus the management software.

I'll have to reconsider my speaker choices. I really like Polk and have heard really good things about focal.

i have room for 6.5's in the front. I'm torn about trying some 3 ways with separate components and a crossover. I didn't really want to tear up the doors with an extra hole for the tweeter.

Yea, the Imprint can add up...figured I'd throw it out there though.

My busi partner is a home Polk dealer and uses the stuff religously. He's got Polk in his car and it does sound very good...not stupid expensive either.

My opinion, but a real good quality coaxial still sounds good. As long as the head unit and amp have good processing and EQ abilities I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Polk lives out on Gibson Island and attended one of our FCA events I hosted. Owns a Ferrari of course. He may be in the Mid-Atlantic FCA directory and you could ask him his opinion directly about which Polk audio system to buy.

Otherwise, try here:

But check here first for guidance/suggestions & fit:

Don't settle for less than 800 watts Ken.

BEHIND the dumpster I suppose?

I would use discretion when using the phrase "hook up" Ed.

Ask your kids what the phrase means.

Then again, maybe you already know.

Default No matter...

No matter what the subject, we always end up in the gutter so quickly... ; )

I'm trying to get this done before our trip to Amelia (I still haven't quite spoken to the wife about that yet)

pm your buddy's contact info. I want to talk to someone before I pull the trigger. I'm looking at the Alpine x305s and a pair of Polk mm571's in the front.

What is Mr Polk's first name?

I've always had a real soft spot for Polk audio, ever since I traded in my meal plan at American University so I could buy a pair of Polk 7's back in 85 or so. I knew I could work and cook my own meals so the trade off seemed fair.
