I have registered to attend. Two of my buddies will have their T-28s on display. Art Nallis might have his Harrier there too. Here's details: Warbird airplanes & Ferraris on July 10th Register now for an upcoming event at Culpeper Airport on 7/10/2010 from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. (actual open house is 10am-3pm if you are not displaying a car) FCA-MAR National Capital Squadron Warbird Open House in Culpeper, VA. Come spend a Saturday with the WWII airplanes at the National Capital Squadron (NCS) hangar and museum in Culpeper, VA. A group of Ferraris will be joining the NCS at their Open Hangar Day in July by adding a display of our cars to their hangar. All proceeds will benefit the NCS with their efforts to restore, maintain, and fly the aircraft and fund the museum. A BBQ lunch will be provided by the NCS staff. Space is limited for being part of the displayed cars, so register early. The NCS is a a 501(c)3 organization and donations made to them are tax deductible. For an additional donation, the NCS pilots give rides in the warbird planes! For more information, see the event announcement at: http://www.fca-mar.com/ClubEvents.asp This is their monthly Open House with a twist - Ferrari's on display w/warbirds. Ron (Toggie) has graciously organized the event. Ed, get your butt down to Culpeper for this event. 360 & TR Cars & Coffee at CITY DOCK ANNAPOLIS 9am-noon Every Sunday F-CHAT Exile now living the Ferrari Life. |

Sounds like a very nice event: What's not to like planes and exotics.

I was planning to when we spoke at Donuts on Sunday. However, this morning I've gotten orders for a trip and have to leave Friday through next week. Unfortunately, I'll have to miss it. D**m the luck!

For those that are coming to the Culpeper Airport event here is some more detailed info for you: If you are bringing a Ferrari to be part of the display, please arrive by 9 a.m. so that we can get the cars parked in the hangar or in front of it on the ramp. For all others, the event is open to the public, for free, and we're planning to have the cars on display from 9 a.m. to approx. 3 p.m. The flyer with the event info is here: http://www.fca-mar.com/attachments/2...er_Airport.pdf If you have a GPS, the address of the airport is: 12499 Beverly Ford Road, Brandy Station, VA 22714 The hangar you are looking for at the airport is the NCS hangar and is approx. mid-field. It is a relatively small airport with only 4 or 5 buildings on it - all close to one another. Here is a MapQuest link with a driving route from Reston Town Center to Culpeper Airport. The distance is 52 miles and will take an hour to an hour and 15 minutes to get there from the Reston, VA area. Add whatever time you need from where you are starting from. http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Rest...241&2v=ADDRESS You might want to bring some or all of the following: - a hat, - sunscreen lotion, - an ice chest with bottled water & sodas, and - perhaps even one or two of those folding canvas/nylon event chairs (if it will fit in the car). - Also, it is a good idea to bring a camera. I’m hoping we get a lot of good photos of the cars pictured with the planes on the ramp. Thanks to everyone for helping with this event. See you there! |

The T-28 Trojan is a lot of plane. 1425 hp, top speed = 340 mph, max altitude = 35,500 ft. Unlike the static displays in the museums, these planes were ready to fly and a few in our group went for a ride in them. And at least one in our group got to see the world from an inverted perspective. Wow! |

Toggie, Had a great time at your event. Thanks for organizing it. The flight in the Staggerwing was an unexpected surprise! Amazing plane! btw, there is a nice front pic of a red 458 Spider in the August 2010 Road and Track, page 23. There is a yellow one, from the rear in August Motor Trend, page 24. current Ferraris: 1995 F355 Spider, 2000 360F1 Modena "If you can touch them, they are real".
