It's going to be close - I say they can do the impossible!

Fortunately the Yankees have already clinched the Division.

Would have thought he would be a White Sox fan, but them winning the WS has always been pretty long odds.

Hey, I have a Cardinals shirt, so I could definitely root for them.

this is Tony's M.O., take August off, then see where you stand in September and make a late push.

makes things exciting but I'd rather clinch early

also, distracts the fans from the Pujols contract negotiations, which I think aren't going so well

Terry - haha ... Go Cards!

Pujols - woof

The fact that they resigned Berkman for 12 million for a 1 year says a lot.

Pujols is not asking too much it's too long ... kinds bs if you ask me.

If he can play in 5 years his value is 50% of what he is asking tops and 20% less each year.

I agree, Pujols for $25mm/yr for 5 years is fine, but more than that I'm not sure. his injuries seem to have increased and production decreased every year for the last 3-4; it's only going to get worse.

if he goes to an AL team they can sign him for 10 years, 5 at 1st and 5 as DH and be okay.

btw you missed out big on the Berkman lease

Yes I did ... that one is going to leave a mark. I didn't think Pujols would play the milk man. Let's face it 25m for 5 doesn't suck.

Hate to reply to my own post - BUTTTTT

Philly came thru in the 13th inning to put the Cardinals in the playoffs and avoid a wild card playoff game.

Thank You Philly!

It's funny for the better part of the week I cheered for Philly - as a fan of baseball what Philly did by beating the Astro's while leaving their starting line up in ... showed great spirit for the game.

But screw that today - it's time to whoop that Philly Cheese

Yeah ... do NOT take it off!

If need be I can always get a few more to keep the spirit alive.

I should get one for your wife - don't want her to feel left out of the fun while watching the Cards win the World Series

Ok so that may be pushing it a lil

I dunno...remember 2006, a barely .500 team made the playoffs and then blew-out the Tigers in 5 games. Just have to catch fire at the right time!

The Giant's certainly weren't the favorites last year either. Hopefully next year SF can make a comeback with injuries healing up. End of season manager brought up a lot of guys from the farm team and showed some promise.

Exactly ... that is what I am counting on!

Tony is a stud and shows some serious leadership.

Are you from St Louis?

You know we love our Cardinals.

They have a strong line up for next year.

BTW - is your brother in St Louis the NAED guy?

I owned an electrical wholesale distribution company for 20 years.
