They did have a habit of self destructing when they were launched - or rather the driver couldn't handle the speed and ended up crashing them into trees or walls. A good few years ago, there were several fatalities in the UK in the space of 2 or 3 months when people had newly acquired one or were taking one on a test drive.

with that much money invested, I'm thinking the guy was a real over his ability person. It was stored for 6 months, and he takes it out without a proper inspection. Mice eating a fluid line or such would, on pressure just spill onto engine bay, as it seems and start a hot-dog roast. I'm almost certain the insurance would allow this one. rik Guide to the Galaxy: Don't Panic Rik -- LAH ! The car is registered to an address in Oregon,it was driven in California, and the owner lives in Minnesota! He had the car insured for $3 million. Something fishy here? |

| Actually not unusual for a very high net worth individual.

Update: Car packed up and ready for shipment back to England. Brian Crall says it's closer to his area, Bay Area and no longer in mine. SO: Now what. He gets it fixed and pockets some change? doubt the car will ever be back to normal with that toating....engine either. rik Guide to the Galaxy: Don't Panic Rik -- LAH ! Two years ago a gentleman lost his life in the crash of his Enzo in Monterey. My good friend in Monterey who knew this person pointed out the crash site to me. It was quite disturbing. Ferrari bought that car back, completely rebuilt it, and then sold it to a buyer in New York in Nov or Dec 2008. I heard that when "Dieter" crashed his Enzo in Malibu a few years ago that Ferrari immediately flew the remains to Italy and rebuilt that car. Brian would probably know more about both of these. It happens, though. |

I would have expected that Dieter car to be evidence....locked up. why would a car company buy back a wreck and repair and resell it? rik Guide to the Galaxy: Don't Panic Rik -- LAH ! Current: 1990 Mondial T Cabriolet : Red/Tan 1995 456 GT 2+2 : Roso Metalizzato [Fer 311/C] & Tan |

Enzo S/N's are very protected. The car represents a great deal to Ferrari. So they closely guard the S/N's. Ferrari stated they made 399 and that the 400th was put to a charitable auction. In reality they made 449 cars total and Sheehan and Gerald Rousch have confirmed this! Thus more were made and sold then Ferrari told their original buyers. So protecting those S/N's is in Ferrari's best interest. They do not want the damaged cars falling in the hands on inexperienced shops as what happened to the Enzo Eddie Griffith damaged a while back. That was butchered by a repair facility in Texas. It went up for sale 2X's on eBay and went no where. Don't know where it is now. |

thought that one was repaired and much talk about the cockpit area being certified as sound...but, it was confirmed the rebuild, TX one, not Eddie's muff, was rebuilt. Jim Glickenhouse got into a discussion about it...... Guide to the Galaxy: Don't Panic Rik -- LAH ! Current: 1990 Mondial T Cabriolet : Red/Tan 1995 456 GT 2+2 : Roso Metalizzato [Fer 311/C] & Tan |

The one that Eddie Griffith messed up was repaired in Texas and was listed for sale by the shop in Texas that did the work. Not sure to which one you are referring. |
