Testarossa Struts

Has anybody ever replaced the hood and bonnet pneumatic struts in an early Testarossa (prior to #76000) with non-OEM struts? I welcome your advise..

I paid $70ea for the ferrari struts and even brand new they do a crap job of holding the hood up...it is marginally worth it given the signifigant amount of time to get in there and replace them.

So as you can see the situation can get pretty grim at times. Barbie has died 5 times. Twice by gunfire, once in the explosion, once by a vicious beating and once when thrown from the Ferrari after it flew off a cliff. Pete
