Suggest you check with "carguy". He is the resident TR specialist and might know of a car on the market.

There are currently 3 (white, black, red)of them on ebay. Nice 512 TRs are hard to find and don't seem to come up for sale very often.

Thanks carguy.
I actually saw the white 512 TR on ebay and went to look at it in philadelphia and took it for a ride. The car was NOT as advertised. It was advertised as one owner but really had 5 owners, there was a mileage discrepancy on the carfax records, and the car was in rather poor condition 6 out of 10 but was described by the dealer as "excellent" condition.
I will definitely keep looking for a good 512TR. After this experience, I am not sure why anybody would bid on a car off Ebay especially without looking at it personally.

Thanks. I was subscribing to FML for awhile and then stopped.Doug Pirrone, i'll definitely call and see what the story is. Ditto with Atlanta, back a few months they had a red blk 93 TR, didn't know they had a new one. The one at Naples, is probably good condition; it had a number of things redone, new headliner and carpet.
There is a car at Auto Corsa in north carolina; don't know anything about the car but am looking into it.
Thanks for the info Boxer, I'll keep you posted on my Search.

Default still searching

just an update.
I saw two 512 TR which met my criteria, unfortunately, a routine CARFAX showed odometer rollback on both. I am rather disgusted, it seems that honesty is not part of the routine anymore. If anyone wants to know the VIN numbers on these cars, let me know.

It is unfortunate, hence the need for more smart buyers who will insist on honesty being reinjected into the system.

Please send the SN's for both cars. The information should be included in the Registry.

Please feel free to send me a private message with the SNs. I have no problems adding them to the Registry. Besides, it is for information purposes only and therefore I'm not worried about liability.

That's a point... It's a HUGE dealership, but I never heard of anybody actually dealing with them...

Congrats on finding what is no doubt a gem. Did the previous owner ever drive the car? The only thing you'll have to watch closely are the seals. With those few miles the seals could have dried up from lack of oil.

yes. the car was cosmetically excellent. a dealer inspection revealed front hood shocks needed replacement and repair of the clutch bell housing. I had a full compression test done which was normal. Original tires and car cover. It came with the matching Schedoni luggage(unused)

the owner had performed yearly oil/filter maintenance. The timing belts were done 2 years ago without taking the engine out; is that possible??

You are right, he didn't drive it much; he had a bunch of other cars(not ferraris!!)
I will try to get some pics; although I am technically challenged.

I have heard talk of people changing cam belts without engine removal, but this is only a rumor at this point. On my TR I did investigate this and it appeard that if the fuel tanks were removed you could "possibly" pull the cam belt covers off to get at everything but I'm not totally sure. It's much better to just pull the motor to get a clean shot at everything. I would at least ask them how they did it. If they mention pulling the fuel tanks that would lend some credibility to their statement. 512TR engines are lower in the chassis than on earlier TRs so removing the fuel tanks would tend to help out more for these cars. But I have have never heard first hand of someone actually changing belts without engine removal. On 512TRs the engine must be unbolted from the transaxle and pulled out the top of the engine bay. So perhaps ask for more specifics about the cam belt change and let us know what is said. And again congrats on getting my dream car!
