Back in 1989 I purchased a very nice 1978 308...my first F-Car. It was cool, my career in Slilcon Valley was starting to take off and life was pretty good. That same year my wife and I attended the Palo Alto Concours d'Elegance at Stanford. Wandering around the vintage Ferrairs on display I heard a car approaching from behind and turned around to see a dazzeling red '86 TR rumbling by. What's with that mirror..Why did it sound like that..? Some one told me it had a Tubi exhaust system on it and they only had one mirror..wow. I was smitted with a life-long crush that persists to this day. Between my venerable 308 and my "new" TR I had many dalliances: Vintage Corvetts, British cars, Prosche's..but now it was time to get my TR. About a year ago I really started looking. After attending the Concourso Italiano this year and seeing Sandy Eggo's magnificent metalic black example I stepped up my search. I wanted a good example with (hopefully) a reasonable service history. I saw quite a few cars. Some were priced as low as the high 40's. Nearly all had stories...no service history, trashed interiors, not priced to where I thought the market was, and other examples of a great car owned but not loved. Finally I found 78565 in the Bay Area. A very nice 1988 Red / Tan two owner example with only 6,500 miles! The second owner got a case of "major service-ites" and only drove the car 500 miles after it's first major service. I bought her. I knew there were somethings to be done. I needed another major, and I wanted to install the Dave Helms fuse / relay board upgrade in the process. I got on Brian Crall's schedule and Brian performed a meticulous service on the car including some very nice "while were at its" that I was not expecting. Since I knew I wanted to show the car Brian guided me through a few things that really got the car pointed in that direction. While the car was at Brian's we had Tom Hatfield stop by and freshen up the leather on the car. Mind you, the interior was really nice to begin with, but now it's in concours trim. Oh, and the car drives great..I thought it drove pretty well before the service but now the throttle response is really crisp and the idle perfect. The car is just a joy to drive at speed. :harry |

Harry- She is a real beauty and if Brian is taking care of her, she should remain that way. Make sure you drive her a bunch. They like that.

Harry was smart. He took his time and found a great car. It is fresh enough he gets to put his own patina on it. Harry is also one of those people that makes this business fun. |

Hi Harry, Congratulations with your beautifull TR. Only 6,500 Miles. Unbelievable, I thought my TR had low milage, but that's very low. Have lots of fun with the car. Are you going to install à Tubi system? |
