1/4:1 Testarossa door

Ok so I'm a broke college student who doesn't actually own a Ferrari (yet) but I figured I would share my first school project with some enthusiasts.

Door skin started

with fins

This is just rough work, the finished product will be sweet. And I can take criticism, I know it isn't perfect but I didn't have a real door to take measurements from. I had to do all this from a picture.

Nice work, yr proportions are close. Are you using some type of plotting software off pics?

I assume this is not a short project (whole car?) and may appear pointless to some, but hang in there, the skills you will pick up will hold you in good stead for the future, when you have yr own TR.

If I can help in anyway with pics containing Datum points at all etc. let me know

ER- Welcome to Ferrari Life. Looks like you have a good start on a Testarossa that will be very low maintenance.

can't find a model above the 1:32 range.

Nice work....looks like a lot of fun in that structure.

I didn't have any software, I got the length of the car off some website and then measured a picture of the car and computed the scale from there. The school has a Testarossa in another building but I never had a chance to go measure it. And, yes this would definitely seem pointless to most but it's actually a school project. We had to build a door in 1/4:1 scale and the first thing that popped in my head when I heard door was Ferrari Testarossa!!! I should have used steel though, this aluminum has been a lot harder to work with than I thought it would be.

This is just a test run, eventually I will be building my own Ferrari but it will be full scale

Definitely gonna need some training in composites as well.

Sounds like fun, I wish I had the time. Maybe one of these days I'll attempt a model, I need to do a full size car first though!!!

Now I just have to mate the skin to the inside and I can start the body work. I'd like to straighten out the fins a little more but being aluminum they break easy. I've already broken one and had to go through the whole process with the shrinker/stretcher, tig welder, etc.

Well I came this far so I guess I'm gonna do the body work and spray it and try to make it look as good as possible.

Well this is about it finally. I've been working on a crazy motorcycle gas tank so it sat around waiting to be buffed. Still needs a couple touch ups but that's the basic idea. It was a good learning experience.
