Default F50 for sale

I spotted a F50 for sale in the Ferrari Market Letter today. Don't worry, 212Export you won't be tempted:

Asking price: $939k! What are they smoking? Boxer, is the pricing in the US very different for the F50?

Pricing in the US is 50-70% higher.

Wow. Still seems expensive compared to the UK one, then. But I assume you can't pick and choose, not many come to the market in the US and you can't import them from Europe yet.

Only 1 or 2 come to market in the US in any given year which really drives prices.

Regarding imports, you can bring 1995 F50s in and go through the DOT/EPA conversion process. Bill will be around $70k-100k. Otherwise you need to wait until they reach the 25 year old mark.

Now I can understand one of the reasons why 212Export is tempted for F50 acquisition. w/ smiles Jimmy

Here's one with some liberal customizations

Note that the VIN's digit number eight is not an "A" meaning it was not produced for the USA market

Default F50 in Nottingham

Graypaul Nottingham had one in the showroom when I was last in around mid December 2009.

From memory the ticket price was £335. Might have been £ 355 though. But in that region.

They also had FIVE 16m's that day. I was told only 49 RHD were made. If true then they had 10% of total RHD build in their showroom. There was an all black model. Absolutely everything was balck. Was the most menacing looking car I've ever seen. Nevertheless, I would have had the yellow one. Stunning.

At the time the US was on the verge of requiring OBDII (On Board Diagnostic) standard connectors and software interface so the US versions were a bit different.

Chassis 99999 was the first F50 showed in public at the Geneva Car Salon 1995.

Wait. FIVE?! How can there be multiple of the same serial number...even Ferrari restamps many in their Classiche program let alone get all twisty when a serial number attemps to be something of question [remembering the numerous number debates, of which Cavallino's latest issue shows chasis number to have been mis-stamped].

Well, how many FXX's do you believe there are?

depends on what propaganda one reads, originally there were to be 299+1, but the Pope auctioned off #300....then there were the extra 200 or so I've heard going about, but numbers vs SN's?

So, IF I understand your comment, you are saying the SNs are duplicated for the mystery Enzos too?

still, don't know how one would register a car with duplicate trailing #s even if the prefixes might be diff...what would Classiche say? []

You are thinking of the Enzo. Officially 399 +1 for the Pope. Unofficially about 460. On the FXX, offically 29 +1 for Schumi. Unofficially 33.

Ok last two questions, and this is minus the ones mistakingly stamped, but in regards to stamped as is out the door:

1. Can there be duplicate numbers: I'm saying not, even in terms of country codes being different.
2. OF the #99999 mentioned above: How can they stamp five models? Did they destroy bodies, were they prototypes not for production and only 1 sold? I've just never heard of such and don't get it....dense I guess.
