Default Waxing

Waxed the F40 yesterday. Only the second time I have done it this year. I am finding that if you keep the cars under a cover and only wash when needed and with a mild shampoo, a good waxing twice a year is fine. Given the thin paint on the carbonfiber, also do not want to do it too often as it does remove a micro layer of paint.

How often do most owners wax ?

I use Finish First on all my cars, and have never had any issues. FF combined with clay twice/year or as needed has kept my small, but cherished collection 'as new'..... including my F40.

Do you do it yourself or entrust it to a professional detailer ?

I've used Zymol Concours hand glaze, and the results were fantastic. The glaze is not as durable as a harder wax, but for showing etc it turns out marvelous.

I also do it myself. If in the right mood, it is quite relaxing and enjoyable. I also like to do it as it gives me a chance to really check the condition of the paint and bodywork.
