How often do you have to bleed the clutch on your F40? Mine seems to need it every 6-8 months. Boxer Current: F40, F50, 612, 430 Scuderia Past: 360 Modena, 360 Challenge, 550, 575, 365BB, 512BB, 456 GT, F355 GTS, 365 GTB/4 Daytona, 308 GTB |

The clutch on my car has never required bleeding. Is it possible that the dreaded porous bell housing problem has become apparent? I do hope this is not the case. With kind regards, Vulcan | |

The clutch is likely due for replacement in the next two years. When this is done I will have the bell housing coated to solve the issue (which I suspect is the route cause of it needing to be bleed once or twice a year).

Boxer, mine was doing this even more frequently, and I bled it a few times before its service. It turned out to be the master cylinder which was sent out for a rebuild, so have them take a look at that as well as the bell housing.

| Thanks and very good idea especially given the age (16 years) of the master cylinder.

I have decided to get this sorted once and for all. The F40 will be headed up for servicing at the same dealer that takes care of the F50. Plan is to sort the clutch, adjustable suspension, recharge the a/c, four new tires, and the annual service. Net ent, the F40 will be in great shape by the time the weather improves in the spring.
