Default For the first time saw the F40!

St Louis hosted a local European Car show.

Three stunners - the 458 Spider 575 SA and the F40.

I have never been so taken back by a car in my life.

The F40 was spectacular - the presence of that car was all business.

I am sure other members here will post pictures in the European Car Show thread which will be far better than my iphone.

The best of all the old school and new school in one package!

Just need to find one previously painted - although red is growing on me.

The F40 is an amazing Supercar Doug, it has aged so gracefully....I can't believe that todays was the 1st one you saw....how special for you

Italy in October is gonna be so mindbendingly spectacular for you, as you'll see these & many others for the 1st time too, it's going to be a very, very special trip for car nuts like us, I get goosebumps just thinking about what we're going to see at Ferrari and Maranello and Ive been there a few times now!

Life never slows in paradise....it is just much more enjoyable!

Current Toys: Ferrari California 30, Maserati MC Stradale, Range Rover.
Previous Ferrari's: Scuderia Spider 16M, California & 2x F430 Spider.

Looking forward to it - you hit the nail on the head as many cars really do not age well.

The F40 is one of the most proper proportionate cars I have ever viewed. I will give Ferrari a lot of credit as all their Super Cars are world class.

I don't think he would be happy with it being parked outside.

Randy is such a good guy - he offered to let me drive the F40.

Now all I need is one with a tri color stripe

When first introduced a Pininfarina design Ferrari may not be the most avant garde. But they are (usually) very well proportioned and have lots of nuances in their design. Over longer periods they become recognized as timeless instead of a fad.

Even the Testarossa with the cheese grater sides has worn incredibly well because of it underlying basic correctness and subtlety.

Doug, really need to get you strapped in with Dan Harrison for some track laps in his F40.

Nice Doug,

I remember my first time seeing the F40 about 7-8 years ago. Believe it or not, it was a shabby example on display at Gallery Furniture here in Houston Texas. Needed some (a lot of) TLC, but I was still very impressed.

Do it Doug. An F40 would look great in Silverstone.

Everything you have heard is true.

Jeff - Pinafarina designed a lot of automobiles and I will eventually meet Dan as he has a few special cars that are worth seeing.

The Ferrari's for some reason displays Pinafarina's best work.

Future purchase - for once time is on my side - no room.

Will be keeping my eye out for one with non factory paint and lots of miles.

Default F40

the F40 is in my opinion, the greatest car in the world . I have seen about 8 in my lifetime so far. If i was wealthy, one would be sitting in my garage.White, black, or red , would be the colors for me. Being beside one close up is a mouth droooling experience. Years ago, when i first bought my 328, an independent dealer in Newport Beach, had an almost new F40, BBI512 Injected and a 288GTO, all owned by the son of the dealerships proprietor. He let me hang out and look at them, everytime i stopped in. I was able to just absorb every aspect of the car , that was possible, sitting there in the dealer ship. At the time, it was called Newport Imports, They also had a fantastic variety of other Ferraris as well.I mean .,he had TRs , 355 s , 348 s, 550s, 360 s, 308s, 328 s. These days, there is an actual Ferrari dealership there, as well as the idependent showroom, but its no longer called Newport Imports.

FCA Central States had track weekend at Gingerman (southwest lower Michigan) in May. Took 1990 F-40 with only 50,000 miles-plus but had to fight uncontrollable laghter as drove around the track. Is this much fun a mortal sin?
Good friend brought his Riley-Scott MkIII (open cockpit, closed wheel, 650HP Ford V8) that raced against the 333SP back in the day and this one was the overall winner of the Daytona 24Hours in 1999. Let me drive it to compare with 333SP. Feel of lower gearing and 6-liter Ford motor quite different from the 333SP. Lovely piece of art as most definitely is the 333SP.
Nice day today (nothing on chores-to-do list) so " have" to go to CD store up the expressway to hear some turbo whoosh.
