Default 288 GTO clutch issues.

If I let my 288 sit for an extended time my clutch stops working and sticks to the floor. After a quick bleed it is fine. Other than driving it more often does anyone know a fix?

Given that the 288 GTO (same as the F40) uses a magnesium alloy bell housing which reacts with the hydraulic fluid creating gas bubbles, the only way of permanently fixing it is to have the housing coated which will stop the reaction. Hill Engineering in the UK can do this but it takes 3 weeks.

Driving it regularily will just slow down the process. You will probably still need to bleed the clutch every 6-9 months.

I believe there is also a place in California that will coat the bell housings.

Is this car located in the US? 288's were non NA products. I noticed your NYC location. So, if you imported and Federalized it, meaning it is in NA, I'll just bet a NA site can be found and you can skip the Hill group. BUT, as Boxer indicates, if Hill does it I'm thinking you'll get a much more straight fwd fix.

I believe there is a place in California that also does it. See to remember it being referenced in a Forza article a few years ago.

Did you have your car go through the Classiche certification when it was at the factory?

No. I did Classiche with the dealer in HK. I only sent the transmission to the factory to be coated
