Really don't think it is fair to refer to the Daytona as a "Beast"

Dear 212 Export, For a moment I thought you were referring to the article "Beauty and the Beast" in the May 2002 FORZA Magazine. Best regards, Robert |

Congratulations You have 2 of the most iconic F cars ever although the 40 is not as WOW as the Daytona.....well at least by my standards. Drive it in good health and terrorise the neighbourhood |

Dear 212 Export, The May 2002 Issue #37 of FORA Magazine contained a six page article written by Pete Vack entitled “La Bella e la Bestia”. In it he detailed the differences between an immaculately restored 750 Monza (0502/M) and the obscure (at the time) and battered 500 Mondial (0556(0446)/MD). He then went on to discuss the options I faced in tackling the conservation/restoration project with which you are now quite familiar. Reading it again today brings back the memories of the questions and and answers I wrestled in deciding the approach to use and still retain as much originality as I possibly could. I also marvel that it took over six years to finish the job. Best regards, Robert |

Please don't hold back if you feel like writing about what you think makes these two cars so special in comparison with your experiences with other Ferraris (please...! -and please also to you Boxer, being equally blessed with such exceptional cars) Enjoy! Salve, Capo ![]() The bad news: Time flies The good news: I'm the pilot You cannot make life longer but you can make it wider and also much higher.

I'll gladly write some conclusions and comparisons regarding your question after I have driven them more. Regarding the F40, some impressions have been written on another thread (and I'm sure more will follow over time). This is a personal choice of course but I'm extremely pleased with the driving impression and experiences of the Daytona. Just to repeat shortly, as a street drivable classic car (40years is really classic) the car is by way the fastest of the classic cars I owned. Its more comfortable for long distance driving than anything I owned classic wise (especially also the noise level is tame for lady-co-drivers, a important factor on very long driving) and with higher speeds, the car does not gets light on the front end, giving the driver a much more secure feeling than my previous classics. Yes, I admit, a 275 GTB/C or a 250 SWB for about 10-15 times the price of a well restored Daytona may very well beat my emotional sensations but as these cars are not in my league, I had to concentrate on the "other" class of great Ferrari classics. And again..they are all great in that respect. Which car is prefered after owning many different is based on very personal experiences and particular preferences and may change over time as well (maybe long travelling may not be important after become 70 and older). My advice: Go out and drive all those machines whenever you have a chance to do so!
