F430 DIY Guides and Mods |
F430 DIY Guides and ModsThis page is a chapter in the book F430. This chapter is to keep track of the different DIY guides and modifications posted in the Modern V8s: 360, F430, 458 (http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/modern-v8s-360-f430/) section so that they can be easily found back here. F430 DIY - Install the Scuderia engine bay bonnet side grills http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/mo...ia-engine.html This is a very easy upgrade anyone can do. In addition to the nicely improved look, these Scuderia side vents will allow a much better heat evacuation from the engine bay because they are made of a 100% mesh. F430 Install the Capristo Exhaust brackets http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/mo...o-exhaust.html One of the most important upgrades to consider on the F430/Scud/16M are the exhaust brackets. Fortunately, Antonio Capristo has been working and researching intensively on this problem and created a new exhaust bracket which is radically different than the OEM brackets. The Capristo exhaust brackets or rather their new exhaust suspension system have a double spring system so that the exhaust can now move and expand freely. ![]() F430 KIWI WIFI OBD Diagnostic interface http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/mo...sted-f430.html This OBD diagnostic interface connects directly to the F430 OBD connector and uses a wireless 802.11 WIFI network to exchange data with an IPhone or IPad. The Kiwi interface is supported by several applications from the iTunes store like Dash Command, Rev or FuzzyCar. ![]() F430 DIY - Fix the driver/passenger side loose mirror http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/mo...passenger.html If one or both F430 side mirrors is loose, this is an easy way to get it long term fixed. It’s a 15 minute job which can be done by anyone. The mirror can get loose in two different areas. The 3 screws of the underside can be loose but also the 2 screws inside the mirror holding the coupler. ![]() F430 DIY - Manual Gear - Repair the gear shifter bushing and improve overall shifting http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/mo...ar-repair.html As many owners of manual 430’s, I experienced also difficulties to shift with precision or shifting irregularities. My shifter had some side to side play (wiggle) but worst, it wasn’t going back in the centre position in front of the 3/4th shift position. After the second gear, I had to bring myself the shifter to the centre, and shift the 3rd gear. These problems are very common on all manual 360’s and 430’s. F430 Progressive Shift Light Installation guide http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/modern-v8s-360-f430/15512-progressive-shift-light-installation.html Install a shift light using a Can Bus Interface without having to connect it on the Motronic ECU ignition wires. The Can Bus Interface will transform the networked rpm data into a tacho signal which can be understood by the Shift Light. ![]() F430 360/430 DIY guide:install an aluminium dead pedal http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/modern-v8s-360-f430/15523-360-430-diy-guide.html This is a very easy DIY guide, something everyone can do. The dead pedal on the 360 and F430 is identical so this DIY can be done for both cars. Both cars have this horrible looking rubber which is simply glued on a metallic support. With time, the rubber starts looking even worst and will start ungluing in some areas or will start deforming with the foot pressure. ![]() F430 Engine bay light mod http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/modern-v8s-360-f430/15502-engine-bay-light-mod.html Add a LED based engine bay light connected on the tail light wire harness. The engine bay light is on when the position lights are on but can also be controlled with a remote control as well as dimming it. ![]()
