well, I don't know yet. the Scaglietti is not the best design in my opinion, but the 599 isn't great looking either. However, I have not seen the latter one yet, so untill then I can not make my choice.

The 612 is too big it drives like a boat, albiet a small fast boat but still a boat. I am not totally sold on the new 599 but will go with it in light of the fact the 575 is not on the list. I am however thinking that the 599 will be much better looking in viewing the actual car rather than photos.

The 612 looks ridiculous amounts better than the 599. I personally think that the 612 is a great car, so that and its looks are enough to sell me. I dislike the 599 alot, even with its tremendous power.

To me it's not so much a matter of looks (I think so far the 599 would get my vote on looks), it's a matter of which would serve the buyer's purposes better. Wants to carry the family, then the 2+2 612 is the best choice...........Just wants to carry their latest squeeze (sorry, the "Significate Other"), then the 599 is the best choice.............
I still harbor a lust for the 550/575m...........they are beautiful cars...........you have to understand, that each time a new FERRARI is considered for re-style (actually complete re-engineering ) the obligation of Pininfarina to come up with something new is a tremendous.....lots of pressure. Plus the need to use aerodynamics.....not easy.....but the schools are turning out a remarkable group of new designers....so.

I am glad to hear the 599 looks good in person, as the photos do not look that great. I am anxious to see one once they end up here, my local dealer was trying to get me on the "list" but I am going to wait and see how it does and let them work out the first generation of bugs, so to speak, before it is even a serious consideration.

I talked to my dealer last week. He indicated that they will be lucky ot get 3 599 GTB's this year and 6 next. The waitlist is already quite long and most of the people on it have never even seen, much less driven the 599 GTB.

Boxer,
You're speaking like you're considering the 599. That would be quite an investment. Where did you see the 599? I saw the 612 in the metal and I prefered it. I was actually turned off the car when it first came out and then my interests were peaked once I had seen it in person.

No, still looking for the right 550.
Having seen both the 612 and the 599 GTB, my preference is definitely for the latter.

i saw the 599gtb fiorano in real life for the first time yesterday on the swedish car show. it looks so much better in real life than on picture, trust me on that one. there are three things i don't like about the looks though. the front is a bit too vulgar and i don't really like the single rear lamps. the pentagram wheels are a bit ugly too.
i also sat in it and i can say that the interior is a mix of the f430 and the scaglietti, just the way it should be. it's beautiful in other words and the quality feel is very high. i heve too say the 599gtb is a brutal car, in a positiv way, but the looks are victim to aerodynamics and that sucks a bit. it's just not as pretty as the old ferraris. |

I would even table that the 599 GTB will be as highly sought after 40 years from now as the 275 GTB is today.

I definitely favor the 599 over the 612 all because of the looks. I'd rather actually take a 599 with the rear of a 612 on it
The 612 just looks to "soft" for me I guess. What's the price tag on both of these?

Two seater vs. a luggage place behind the driver.

That's quite a statement to make, I'll meet you back here in 40 years to see if your prediction came true? I have big doubt's though, we have no idea how many of these cars Ferrari are going to make? I'm positive it will be considerably more than 275 production though. Argento |

My guess is that Ferrari will produce 2500-3000 599 GTB's.
The statement was based on a prediction that the market for the 12 cylinder GT Ferraris will have increased in size by a multiple of 8-10 in 40 years. Therefore it will be as large on a per unit basis as the current market for 275's is today.

I similarly agree partly with Dr Bob,
The 599GTb Fiorano I reckon isn't the best car today. Suprisingly, I like the 612 Scaglietti better. Possibly because it's unique compared to the other Ferrari on sale today available. Number 1. because it's a sedan (family style car) with four seats. I like the F430 better than the 599GTB. For me today the best cars are the F430 coupe` and spider, the 612 Scaglietti. Also the Enzo and the FXX, which are not in stock anymore, but are getting sold privately now and again.:drive: |
